Slow down there! Every mac OS upgrade stops useful software from working while supplying very little improvement. Wait and read what it does to MS Office, Adobe etc.
I'm fed up with their upgrades. They peaked at Tiger for me. Still working with an ancient machine, and its got the ability to run Classic. Still got software I like to use from back then. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Finally bank managed to open a current account for us today, after 2 weeks of waiting (their SLA is 5 days for this...). Man on phone said it was because they had to wait for our passports...err no you didn't, you had them 3 weeks ago. Anyway never mind....he tells me that application now back with mortgage team and they will instruct a valuation survey within 1-2 days and send an offer letter out.
Fine, finally moving again.
A couple of hours later I got a text message telling me bank will instruct a valuation survey with FOURTEEN working days.
AHHHHHHHHHH
So phoned at 8.45 when I got home, to try to clarify what this means and why it will take so long. But...now a current account has been set up I am a 'customer' not an 'applicant' so they have to set up a telephone security password before I can discuss anything with anyone.
That took 15 minutes, including 5 minutes of attempted cross selling.
Finally persuade that person to let me speak to mortgage dept....oh sorry sir, they closed at 9pm...errr it says on website 10pm. Sorry, they've all gone home.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I'm assuming that solicitor is receiving responses to surveys, & will now be starting their enquiries (fensa certs, boiler warranties etc etc).
If I haven't heard anything by the weekend I'll start dropping a few emails off to people for updates. Not that there is any massive rush, I am now thinking 6 May onwards is best for me.
The bank holidays risk !!!!!!ing things up for me with money transfers being affected (possibly, this could just be me worrying...)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
They are all about security. if I were you I'd change your password to "incorrect" so when you get it wrong because you can't remember it they'll be able to remind you of it by telling you your password is incorrect.
They'll give you a gadget and a massive number of questions to answer that you'll have to re-answer every time they transfer you to somebody new. I'd get memorising now.:o
I have similar ish passwords/memorable info, & write it all down. Only way to cope imo.
However, I'm going to need to delete some, & won't have as many to remember shortly...:oIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Miles Jupp was pretty good. Worth checking out - he's announced a 2nd leg of the tour. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0

Cripes. He's not financially driven then! Good luck to him though. I think being a philosopher would be fantastic. My brain isn't creative enough for it personally.
My advice to the kids is to do what they are:
1. Interested in
2. Can make a living at
In the end they are going to want to enjoy work but also make money. I don't want to see them whinging on here in 20 years time that house prices are too expensive.
If they choose to go for #1 at the expense of #2 then I'll support them emotionally but they will understand by that point that if you choose to be a road sweeper because you enjoy the work then you'll also enjoy the relative fruits of your labour.
Having said that, by the time my kids are getting jobs the Zombie Robot Apocalypse of Road Sweepers will be well underway.
Being a teacher may not be mega bucks but it is still a fairly decent income, got to be better than his original thought which was to be a famous director! :rotfl:
I'm actually very proud and impressed that he wishes to be a teacher, they may get bad press but almost all of the teaching staff I have had to work with over the years, have been very dedicated and super supportive of what I was trying to achieve with youngest....and it is thanks to them that youngest has managed to stay in main stream school (albeit part time until part way through year 6) and his doing GCSEs rather than basic life skills qualifications. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

The government probably wants it's money back at the end and doesn't want to find that it is owed hundreds of millions of pounds by persons such as Mr R. Sole of no fixed abode. Expect there is an AML compliance angle as well.

That's true but i it would be theft in slowmotion like that song about the bloke who's stealing a car from his work one piece at a time. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Let's be honest, most people that slate teachers are people who can't be bothered to look after their own kids so are looking for an excuse for their appalling behaviour.
I taught in a uni for a few months. Great experience, wouldn't choose to repeat it.0 -

Faster payments are good. With a bit of research you can find out how much the limit for the particular bank/ building society to keep it sent as a FP.0 -
There's only one thing better than ice cream... free ice cream!
