You risk overthinking problems because you are in the business.
Or maybe I am more aware than most of what goes on in schools. Schools always have to try to trade off one student's need against another's. For example, somebody has to be in such and such a set to make the numbers up, even though there aren't any more students for whom this would be the right set for their ability & attitude, so we'll put this student in there and they will have to lump it. I can see it from the school's PoV, but as a parent I don't want it to be my kid.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Vent / rant alert.
Finally bank managed to open a current account for us today, after 2 weeks of waiting (their SLA is 5 days for this...). Man on phone said it was because they had to wait for our passports...err no you didn't, you had them 3 weeks ago. Anyway never mind....he tells me that application now back with mortgage team and they will instruct a valuation survey within 1-2 days and send an offer letter out.
Fine, finally moving again.
A couple of hours later I got a text message telling me bank will instruct a valuation survey with FOURTEEN working days.
AHHHHHHHHHH
So phoned at 8.45 when I got home, to try to clarify what this means and why it will take so long. But...now a current account has been set up I am a 'customer' not an 'applicant' so they have to set up a telephone security password before I can discuss anything with anyone.
That took 15 minutes, including 5 minutes of attempted cross selling.
Finally persuade that person to let me speak to mortgage dept....oh sorry sir, they closed at 9pm...errr it says on website 10pm. Sorry, they've all gone home.

They are all about security. if I were you I'd change your password to "incorrect" so when you get it wrong because you can't remember it they'll be able to remind you of it by telling you your password is incorrect.
They'll give you a gadget and a massive number of questions to answer that you'll have to re-answer every time they transfer you to somebody new. I'd get memorising now.:oThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Morning all. Phone bird is full of the joys of spring this morning. Have just had a lovely concert. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

This whole thing where we're expected to remember a whole raft of passwords is utterly ludicrous and impossible to do. It's like the entire system is set up to enable people to steal from you.
I tried to make it through the day without any painkillers. Won't be making that mistake again.0 -
How are you Gen? I've been worrying about you going to work in a suit and tie in case it hurts your neck. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? You will, but...not now. Be guided by your doctor.
Its so misty here I dithered over whether or not to let birds out. In the end I plumped for yes. I'm yawning still. Its depressing that its so dull at this time when its been blazing bright. I wouldn't mind if it just was because of nature, I'd just try and adapt body clock. I wish they'd leave clock alone, any where, just leave it.:(0 -
Happy Birthday to all those who are celebrating this week.
Had to pick Josh up from school yesterday as he had fallen down some stairs, luckily, because he has the same condition as James (EDS), he didn't break his ankle but he has badly sprained it.
Youngest got his official offer letter from the 6th form college, to say he is chuffed is an understatement as the college is oversubcribed for applications and he didn't think he was good enough to get offered a place.
James has managed to secure a part time job helping young people struggling with English, maths and science, right up his street and along the lines of what he wants to do in life (his aim now is to become a teacher in philosophy!)
Lydia - Because I have always had to work closely with schools, I think I am at the same disadvantage as teachers when it comes to knowing what goes on at school and why I tend to overthink things too!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

The scar is amazing, he has done such a good job it's unbelievable. He must have been a seamstress before he went into surgery. The tie was a bit much but given my rather poor attempt at going in to work on Friday I wanted to look at my best. I tend to wear my shirts a little loose at the collar anyway.lostinrates wrote: »You will, but...not now. Be guided by your doctor.
I'm really looking forward to Thursday and finding out what happened. My hearing has come back in my right ear and so I bet this was pressing on something in there. I hope to get away without chemotherapy but if it's what I need it's what I'll have.
There is a tiny worried voice in me asking me what happens if I've only got a few months left. It is a very small voice though and much smaller than it was even 3 weeks ago.lostinrates wrote: »Its so misty here I dithered over whether or not to let birds out. In the end I plumped for yes. We're having such a beautiful autumn. Really warm, almost summery days with nice cool nights. It's been a bit humid and we've been getting some crazy thunderstorms. I quite like a good thunderstorm at this time of year as it clears the air. In the summer they're awful as it just gets even more humid.
You should move to Queensland. No clock changing there.
They put it to the vote a few years back. One of the big reasons against (I kid ye not) was that the extra hour of daylight would make your curtains fade! There's a reference to it here, albeit obliquely, I promise this isn't an April Fool:

Unless you carry a piece of paper with your aunt's budgie's previous owner's middle name so you can supply the 11th and penultimate letter.
I'm amazed at the amount of security there is in applying for university. I wouldn't have thought there was enough identity fraud to justify the layers of it.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
