I'm lucky - my mother never sticks her neck out in the first place, and she's always polite and never a PITA.

She dropped over to see us this afternoon, partly for Mothering Sunday, partly for my birthday.

Basically, I did all the Things You Should Not Do If You Are On A Diet yesterday. And I don't regret any of them.:D

    So...

Business Plan cash forecasts. Not something I've ever really had to do before and I feel like I am making it all up as I go along. It's a puzzler, that's for sure, quite why they think there's a chance in h*ck that I'll come close to the mark or what the point of it is except to extract cash from wary bankers.

I guess that all the black and white figures gives them an air of confidence that my normal 'Heck if I know. Let's start trading and find out' doesn't.

The person reviewing your business plan forecast probably has no experience of running a business or any idea what the likely costs will be so as long as it looks sensible...

Neither did mine. On Sunday I sent a text to my dad saying I was thinking of her, and thanking him for marrying such a wonderful person. It seemed to hit the right note - he texted back to say thank you, and that he was thinking of her, and of his own mum, and of me.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Sounds a great mutual thought.

True, I think. Basically, though, I think they've just produced a very complicated form so that anyone who's committed enough to fill it out is probably a reasonably competent person to start the business.

Will delete the more personal details later:

I got an email over the weekend from the Merseyside Maritime Museum - it's putting on an exhibition next year about the sinking of RMS Lusitania in May 1915. They are particularly interested in the crew and staff, as they were almost all based in Liverpool.

My great-great-grandmother was a stewardess on board, and she lived to tell the tale - lived until 1958, so told it to my mother and uncle, as well as her own children and grandchildren.

I cannot get through to DH. I wonder if there are network problems or if he is really popular tonight?

His new picture went on work website recently, I don't know when, but I just looked to see if work mobile number is there ( its not) and its changed. Last photo wasn't good but this one is really funny. He looks so young though, so that's good. Hilarious but young. :)

Edit: he's emailed, he is really popular tonight, A gf is on the phone to him.

Happy Birthday to all NP with birthdays this week. :)

    :bdaycake:

Just back from seeing DS's senco. I was very croaky but my voice did manage to be more or less audible for the whole meeting. :)

Quite a lot to think about. I'll spare you the details, but the summary is that my mind has been put at rest about some worries I had over his GCSE options, but I've now got some new concerns about the arrangements for the GCSE core subjects. Not that he'll be choosing GCSEs until next Feb, but I like to think ahead and make sure I'm well prepared for these things.

You risk overthinking problems because you are in the business.

More businesses fail because of lack of cash flow than lack of sales. According to OH.

True. But I predict many of the businesses that failed because of cash flow had business plans with cashflow forecasts when they started.
