I'm going shopping at Sainsbury's today so will definitely give the basic tea a go , as like may of you I usually buy Tetley or pg when on offer and Yorkshire tea isn't usually discounted so much
thanks guys

Whilst I do love my brew, I drink it so weak I can make a teabag keep me hydrated all day. (Sorry, purists! At least I no longer put milk In The Pot.)
I do buy Sainbs basic though, as my husband uses it to stain wool blankets. Lurid pink becomes a demure brunette, and a second "cuppa" downright brown. If you ever want to make something in wool but can't afford habadashery per metre cost, consider judiciously brewing a charity shop sourced blanket?0 -
I managed to get my ex from spending a fortune on flippin' Twinings tea to being a huge fan of Lidl's Knightsbridge Red Label tea bags.
Only £1.99 for 160 and she says they're as good as Twinings.
So I bought her a load of boxes last time they were on the half-price weekend offer.
And the good news is that they are half-price again all this weekend. I drink them too and think they make a lovely cuppa and 99p for 160 tea bags is a bargain. I'll be stocking up again - why not give them a go?
I stocked up on six boxes last weekend, might last until the next half price weekend but doubtful :rotfl: I also rate their Knightsbridge decaf. Started drinking decaf in the evenings not that I'm sure it makes a huge diff to my sleep, OH accidentally filled up the tea caddy with the decaf bags and didn't even notice any difference in taste.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Looks like Mr S is messing with this. I did a food order the other day and they were oos. Looked just now and they have them now in 40s not 80s and they are 20p.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

You're right - 40 bags for 20p. Still amazingly cheap and still great but yet another stealth price increase.0

Yes still a great deal but in terms of % increase pretty substantial! ( increase in price of 48%!!)
Also hope they've not messed with the actual tea bags. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Help! they have messed with the teabags, they dont seem as strong and they are round. Back to M and S for their extra strong ones I guess.0

Agree with this. My cuppa of really strong tea is very important. I only drink 3 cups a day so not worth going for cheaper ones.
Twinnings or yorkshire for me.0 -
