When I go to Italy in July for 10 days (thankfully not with Ryan Air) I can tell you 100% there is nowhere that I would be able to print off a boarding card without taking a day out of my holiday to travel to the nearest city that has an internet cafe type place that I don't particularly have any interest in visiting, or schlepping a printer on holiday, which isn't going to happen because then I'd have to take less shoes. It's not only about the money.
I love it when a thread starts becoming surreal.
Blame Michael O'Leary for not being able to take enough shoes on holiday to a place so remote it doesn't have internet facilities.0 -

Now, come on, you should know that us ladies have to take more shoes that is strictly necessary, just in case. :rotfl:
I can't name one internet cafe at home on the outskirts of London, let alone near where I'm staying, they've all but died out now not that free wifi is so widely available (which unfortunately isn't connected to a printer), haven't you noticed? So it's not that remote to not need nice shoes.Deleted_User wrote: »I love it when a thread starts becoming surreal.

I'm not blaming him for anything, I'm flying with Easyjet
Just pointing out that not everyone stays in a hotel or holiday resort and has access to a printer.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
If you travel in a place where you can't print, you pay the fee. If it's not about the money, that won't be a problem. Such an amazingly simple solution to the problem, but again, people like to complain.
Which is all fine and dandy, if you know about it before you booked you make an informed choice. What isn't fine is people who booked before the rule change now finding they either have to pay or incorporate time and effort into their holiday to find a printer.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I didn't say it was fine, I said it's a minor issue and that you are free not to fly Ryanair in the future if it bothers you that much. If enough people do that they will change the system. Of course, that's unlikely to happen because people will complain now and then they will use them again next year if they present the cheapest option.0 -

I think some people are completely missing the point here ! This is a M.S.E. Forum. Hence people on here are looking for ways to save money on their holiday flights, parking, transfers etc. Smug comments about not flying with Ryanair if you don't want to bend over and get shafted by sneaky add ons arn't helpful. Solutions as to how to avoid them are what most of us are offering or looking for. I emailed my hotel and they said that they would be more than happy to print off my boarding passes for me , now that's customer service Michael O'Leary ! Although I can't see why I can't just confirm my return flight on my ipad and show the check in desk the screen shot after all this is 2014 !0

Advice about how to avoid the fee has been mentioned numerous times already but it always seems to be countered by "who wants to do that while on holiday?". In any case, the people who complain like to point out that it's about the principle, not the money.0 -

There have been a few suggestions on this thread about how to avoid the seat allocation fee. Your idea of emailing your hotel in advance is another good one. A hotel should at least be able to tell you the nearest facility with a printer.
You will be able to check in on your iPad and present an on screen boarding pass soon. The question is: how much will Ryanair charge?0
