Except this rule came into effect AFTER people had booked and paid for their flights.

There's no "except". Your options are to pay the fee or print in advance. It's an insignificant amount relative to the overall cost of a holiday, hence why the amount of complaining is entirely disproportionate to the actual issue.

Of course there's an 'except'. You think it's right to penalise people who booked before this new rule?

And who are you to judge what is an insignificant amount for a family to have to pay on top of a holiday that they thought was all bought and paid for?

No, I don't. I also think it's a minor issue at worst. But people like to complain, I know that.

£5 per person per flight may well be a trivial amount to you.

But for a mum and dad with two or three kids, the cost can mount up and it can be £50 they hadn't budgeted for.

If £50 is enough to topple a travel budget then they shouldn't be going on holiday in the first place.

I knew it wouldn't be long before you trotted that one out.

Well it's common sense really. Surely nobody disagrees with it?

You've missed the point. The passengers might have booked with another airline whose headline fares were £20 more than Ryanair, but they chose Ryanair because it appeared to be cheaper.

I too like many others was surprised by the new 7 day rule which made it impossible for me to check in online and print off my boarding passes at home for my return flight without paying for allocated seating which as a dissabled traveller is not applicable to me as I am told where I have to sit. I am a fan of Ryanair generally but this is a step too far even for them. I now have to pay an extra £10 for my flights as I am away for 10 days which takes the shine off the bargain prices I got initially

Indeed, another incredibly minor issue that's hardly worth complaining about. If a £10 difference (not sure where you get £20 from all of a sudden) was enough to make them book with Ryanair in the first place they couldn't value an alternative airline that much higher so nothing much lost there.
