Tom are you aware this is a Moneysavings Forum? Perhaps you'd be better off posting on a "Moneys no object" forum. Your posts would probably be appreciated on there.;)0 -
You're not throwing money away by paying for seat selection, you're buying a product and time. Whether the cost is worth it you is a personal decision of course.0

Not much of a choice though is it. No extra legroom for the £20.00 that O'leary wants me to pay and I'm happy to sit anywhere as all the seats are the same size. Doesn't bother me window, middle or aisle.
As stated with the random allocation of seats, we are together for outgoing flight and will see if we get the same on return.
Here's an interesting one though, if an adult & a small child are travelling together then I can't see Ryanair allocating seats away from each other if they don't pay for the advanced check in fees.
Common sense would ensure an adult and small child always stay together.0 -
I don't know what you mean by 'not much of a choice'. Lots of people are happy to pay for seat selection in advance, that's why many airlines offer the product.0

If I pay £20.00 on advance seating for me and my other half, I am going to get the same class of seat as someone getting a random allocated seat for free. If you were paying for more legroom you might have a point. As stated, me and my other half aren't fussed where we sit on a 2 hour flight but we have been allocated together for the outward trip. So the choice on this occasion to pay maybe a couple of quid at a nearby internet cafe or put £20.00 into O'Leary's coffers is a complete no brainer for us.0 -

I think Ryanair flight prices have become expensive now anyway, for a so called budget airline.
Return flights Liverpool to Alicante, 15th May to 19th May are currently £559 for 2 people.
That's with hand luggage only and insurance elsewhere, no extras at all.
Add the seat allocation charge and it's nearly £600 for low season flights.
I'm going to be looking elsewhere in future.:(0 -

Change the dates to 16th to 20th & save £3570 -
How exact are the timings for 7 days
I have booked flights for elderly relatives - over 75 and no computer experience - I always check in for them and take them to the airport.
For the latest journey they are flying out on on 7th May at 2pm outward ( one way booking)
Return 14th at 10am, to a different airport, hence a totally seperate booking - could you check in on 7th at 9am and avoid the charge?
Thanks for any help0 -

Which is great for you. Other people may value their time more or may care more about where in the plane they sit, which is great for them. Personally I'm happy to pay extra for an aisle seat in the front of plane rather than risk getting stuck in a middle-seat at the back. Anyway, my post was mainly in response to zacksmum's post that people opting to pay were throwing money away. That depends entirely on how much you value the product you're getting for the paid seat selection.0
