I actually think that being so tight when you have tons in the bank and making attempts to be super frugal has little to do with money, its a mental health issue

I do understand that some people may have been brought up in poverty and never want to go back there, but if you have enough money to live comfortably, there is no sense in walking about with holes in your clothes and lots of money in the bank

Im skint and I still dont walk around with holes in my T shirts.

. Wearing vests/t shirts with big holes in which showed her chest, saying it was o.k for the garden.(What about if someone visited?)
Does anyone know anybody else as bad as this?

They won't come back without calling first? We wear SHOCKINGLY awful things gardening! and only because in our new garden its not always private enough to wear nothing yet :):D.

I simply hate it when people drop in uninvited or unannounced and if getting an eyeful puts them off doing so then so be it. Sadly, it seems to encourage them back as often as not:rotfl:

I couldn't really care less what other people wear in their homes or gardens, or spend on things, or make and mend.

The kitchen towel / injury issue really is what tells me what I need to know in how much time I'd want to spend with this person. The scrounging also isn't nice. (Unless it was misinterpreted but genuine ' can we break packs for discounts and to save it going missing in the back of a drawer) , but the refusing to help someone In need with something at hand is just .....awful.

I'm a bit confused as to why it makes you a bad person for having holes in your t-shirt. If the individual doesn't care why should anyone else? The problem is that we have become a society where buying new is applauded and making do isn't. That's not to say that other examples given aren't a concern but as has been suggested these are more suggestive of the individual having mental health issues rather than being a bad person.

I'm almost more amazed it winds you up so much to be honest. Most of those things have no real bearing on you... so whats it to do with you anyway?! Leave them be if thats what they want to do. Admittedly there are a couple of things that are a bit ridiculous mind.

Like someone else said, I'm not sure why people have such an issue with 'well off' people trying to be sensible with money either, completely backwards.

I think the examples you have given about this woman's lifestyle choices, suggest she is a few cards short of a deck rather than tight fisted.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

I agree. The toilet roll thing is very odd.

    Wow....that IS bad!

Did she have a flannel wash or whatever it's called between her weekly showers? If not, she must stink to high heaven.

I was starting to think she was maybe just eccentric, but not giving kitchen rolls to an injured woman, is just lower than low....it's a wonder she didn't get lynched mobbed!

I always puzzles me how people know so much about their friends' finances. How do people know that someone has £250,000 savings?

Because they told me and discussed various options regarding investments. I dont know if she had a strip wash during the week as I wouldnt want to discuss that really with someone.
The house she rents out was also trashed by one of the tennants because she refused to do the jobs on the property that needed doing as she wasnt prepared to pay for it all.
She also got into an argument with the neighbour who was a friend of the tennant and the neighbour kicked down the fence. All of this was because she wouldnt pay.

No, neither would I, just seemed you knew most other things about her though.
