  • Quick question.... how long after account opening are activation codes typically arriving?

OH and I have each opened two accounts and pretty sure ONE of each offered the chance to go paperless as the account was opened.... but not the other one.

    3-5 days.

    That was my experience too.
  • Thanks Yorkshireboy.... and it looks like we both replied within seconds of each other to the guy on the Halifax Reward thread!!

I read it the same way you do and hadn't rea
lised the Ts and Cs had changed.......
  • Is this true or rumour?

From 31 March the Vantage current account will no longer be available to new customers. We are writing to existing Vantage customers to update them about the benefits of Club Lloyds and to notify them that the rate on Vantage will be reduced to 1.5% from July 2014

I opened my first Plus account online last night, account has shown up on my internet banking screen this afternoon, £2000 deposited and paperless statements selected! Should I perhaps wait 24 hours before opening my second account online? I know when I opened my Enhance accounts I had to leave a couple of days between each application.
  • (posted on another thread as well specifically aimed towards one user but probably more relevant here...)

I enquired on TSB's central number how many accounts one person could have and was told 4 ....two single and two joint. In fact I used the words 'so between two people you can have 8 accounts' and was told yes. (of course I didn't get her name ....don't be daft....)

Had an appointment with an 'account opening consultant' to open our first joint account in branch ....but when I explained I already had two accounts was told this was the max I was allowed.....and looking at the Ts and Cs it does say a max of two accounts, but, as far as I can see, with no mention of a joint account.

Confused now....... How many have people got?

(Yorkshireboy ??....you're usually the king of Ts and Cs....!!!)

I find it impossible to find T&Cs on the TSB website, so hopefully YB has them bookmarked and will repost them.

I can't recall seeing anything in the T&Cs regarding number of accounts, and they are not saying anything about it on their account summary pages for the Plus account. I suspect the max number will be a policy decision that they can change over time, without having to notify any T&C changes (existing account holders are rarely affected by clampdowns on number of accounts, and I am unaware that any bank ever upped the max number).

Only place I can find where they talk about number of accounts is the now a bit dated press release in which they announced the account. It just says 2 max per person. http://www.abouttsb.co.uk/press_and_media/news_releases/12_03_2014_5_per_cent_interest_from_the_bank_acount_thats_not_like_other_bank_accounts.html

You can do an internal transfer between the two accounts, it doesnt even have to go in and out.

As long as there is a line item on the statement showing that the money was there it counts.

As long as £500 is paid in then it counts, this can be 1 lump sum, 5x £100, whatever.

For me I have a SO sending £500 between the two accounts on the same day so I dont even have to do it manually or transfer any new money in or out.

so, (I think I am finally. although slowly).. you have
account A with £2000 in it you never go below £2000
account B with £2000 in it......you never go below £2000
then from account C you set up SO for £500 to go into account A and then from there is goes into account B...
