Bus driver rude over £10 note

Yes, the Drivers shouldn't be so rude but they probably get it so many times each day they just get sick to the back teeth with it.
If you know you might get some stick, or cause a stand-off, if you board the bus and try and buy a fare with a £10-20 note, why not just get some change? I always have the exact change and I use the tram which has a conductor or the bus every day. It's so simple and to be honest whenever I've given them the right change they've been really thankful.
The minimum fare here is £1.50 on the tram and I have witnessed people asking for that fare with £20 notes. Either go into your bank and ask for them to change a £10-20 note into coins (they may or may not give you it), or go and buy a mars bar or a drink. I would bet the majority of times people are trying to pay for such tiny fares with large notes is because they expect the driver/conductor to say, "Oh I don't have change; don't worry you can ride for free."0 -
My mum has to pay the toll bridge thing to get home from work, which is currently £1.50. As part of housekeep, I go into the bank with £30 and ask for 20 £1 coins and £10 worth of 50ps. I've never had a problem changing the money. I have been asked once or twice for proof that I bank with them, in the form of my bank card.Sealed pot challenge #232. I think the point duchy was making was that because the OP didn't want to do something (got and get change) it resulted in other people having to do things they didn't really enjoy either (standing behind someone who didn't get change yet everyone else could). Everything we do has a result and although it might make your life easier it makes it less easy for others. It's not about impatience more courtesy and consideration.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Not really seeings as no one else gets on at my stop, ever!
I don't think you're understanding that I did not know it would be a problem. I understand people think it's common sense but to me I'm paying for a service, if I buy a drink in the shop with a tenner - is that not ok? Furthermore it's quite difficult to have the correct change ready when the price changes depending on who is driving, it's been two different prices this week already!
I didn't think "oh I can't be bothered to buy a drink, I will just use my tenner on the bus", it never occurred to me that this wasn't standard behaviour, no one has ever batted an eyelid before. It is a long route and I'm near the end, I'd eat my hat if he didn't have a fiver and a few pound coins.
I really don't think he thought I was trying to get away without buying a ticket - do people really have that mentality?0 -

Exactly the same what I did when I used to car park and there wasn't any mobile payment services. They just ask to see your debit or credit card to make sure you're a customer, and I've even had as much as £80 changed at times, just kept it in my glovebox, and then with my change for bus/tram I have a pot at home which I take it out of before I go to work if I haven't got any change in my purse.0 -
I got an idea, if one guy has a 20 note only. He can just pay for everyone in the queue and they can give him their change0

I don,t know how much your bus fare is but once a month go into a bank and draw say £30 worth of change in £1 coins. Ration it out in a separate purse every week. And write or email your bus company and ask them what their policy is about change. And if it,s favourable to you, always keep a copy of their reply in your handbag when you get on a bus.0

Thank you
I've checked already and the only note they mention *possibly* not being able to take is £50. According to them the driver shouldn't been rude, he had more than enough change and I was we'll within my rights to use a tenner (according to them!)0
