Bus driver rude over £10 note

Hi, they cannot refuse you. I live in London and bus drivers try this all the time with me. Some claim they don't carry change in their bus.. yeah whatever. There is an IOU system. If they claim they don't have change, they have to give you a note saying you tried to pay and that you couldn't because they had no change. I don't know if the idea is you are meant to take that ticket and pay for it somewhere else, but point is, they can't refuse to let you on the bus, no matter how hard they try. Trust me, I've had every excuse in the book and have experienced some really nasty and scary bus drivers. They really can be such horrible people when they're in a bad mood!0

I've checked already and the only note they mention *possibly* not being able to take is £50. According to them the driver shouldn't been rude, he had more than enough change and I was we'll within my rights to use a tenner (according to them!)
But if he gives you a load of change, that's less change he has to give to others.
I used to catch the bus and it cost 60p for a single and almost every day I had to catch the bus, I ended up paying with a £1 coin and would always be asked if I have 10p because they have no 20ps to give me.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I was on a bus from the terminus the other day, and three successive people got on wanting to pay with £10 notes. The last one got his change (about £7) in 20p, 10p and 5p pieces!
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

That goes for every business that deals with small amounts of cash! Why are buses so special that they should never have to deal with giving change? They can get a float and get topped up at driver changes if need be, surely. You wouldn't be very impressed if you paid for a coffee with a tenner and were told you couldn't, or you could but wouldn't be getting any change back.0 -
If it became common knowledge that bus drivers working alone carried a substantial float, it could make them a target for assault by unscrupulous thieves, especially late at night in dodgy areas.
Most coffee shops would not have just a single member of staff working, and anyway probably have security systems to summon help if needed.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Yes, but by refusing to give change for notes they are sending the message that they only carry a few quid in change, so hardly worth the risk of being assaulted for.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Actually, they carry massive wads of notes. When they give people a fiver they get it from their jacket and peel off some money.0 -

Well all I can say to that is... more fool them. I'm sure they are not obligated by their employers to put themselves at risk like that.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
