I've been outside all day. Paid gardening job all done and been to the dump with DS1 to get rid of all the branches.

Cuppa now and then popping to school with my Governor hat on.

Afternoon all. I took a lunch break as planned and now have an empty ironing basket. Also decided to do something from the list, so DHs shirt is repaired and the medicine box is sorted.
Spend less now, work less later.

I've been lurking for a few weeks /following along in spirit. I am trying to downsize (ideally want the house up for sale by the end of the month) but this means tackling all the jobs I have lived with for so long without any real budget for doing so.

I know I need to deep clean the house before selling as well as developing tidy habits to keep it that way for viewing (currently trying to do washing up and put everything away before going to bed each evening - no guarantee it will still be tidy in the morning as DS3 is mainly nocturnal and can demolish kitchen tidyness in a flash ).

I just wanted to say thank you for improving my day so much and making me laugh. I logged in to see what today's jobs were - bathroom.

I will describe the current state of my bathroom in the hope that it will bring you all a smile as well. Yesterday I undercoated and glossed the bathroom window, floor to ceiling cupboard and bathroom side of the bathroom door. I also have 4 undercoated cupboard doors outside in the back yard - the top and bottom doors for the bathroom cupboard (middle one is hinged) and 2 'extra' kitchen cupboard doors which are to go on the bottom half of the dining room cupboard (previous owner had a useless slot inboard thing).

I am lying on the bed in the smallest bedroom at the moment, trying to persuade myself to get outside and gloss the doors. In addition to the general aching from the painting, my right arm and shoulder are refusing to work at the moment as I also spent an hour trying to clean the rust spots off the shower rail (up to about 5 hours on this job, alternately rubbing with astonish cleaner - remember my brother bringing some home to work on his motorbike - crumpled tinfoil (tip from Mr Builder)and fine sandpaper. A friend of DS3's has come to sort out the attic stairs and they were using the big ladder,so all the high level work was done using the step'n'fetch or standing in the bath (wellies and painting clothes -so chic).

I left the bathwater in the bath as I was hoping to re-do the bath seal. The bath water is currently between grey and yellow-green due to all the flakes from the shower. I am also multi-tasking by using it to soak some toothpaste encrusted plastic drawers and soak an outfit of DS3's which has mystery red marks on it (red biro/paint or fake blood at a guess). I kept resting by sitting on the toilet seat and scrubbing the marks with a vanish bar.

The sink contains the stuff that was on the bathroom windowsill (the towels etc are in the wardrobe in the small bedroom with me so all my possessions I have access to are stacked in a box and 2 bags on the floor at the side of me, everything else including the painkillers is in the attic) plus scrapers, sanding block - I lost the ability to pick up anything below my knees about mid-day yesterday. The landing has various bits of furniture which have been pushed out of this room and the bathroom and extension bars and reels from other bedrooms to support drills and other tools which are charging up.Anyway must go paint doors - a little bit of work and I should at least be able to re-locate most of the bathroom cupboard contents. And remind boys to get on with the stairs - they were having so much fun yesterday that in between eating pizza (I got leftovers) and watching anime, they forgot all about doing any work.

Good luck with your flying - just remember whatever the state your bathroom is currently,it's probably better than mine -apart from the woman who's leak brought down the kitchen ceiling (mine did that last October).
