Sorry, Scuffer, but that was funny!

As I have a ridiculous sense of humour, I would give brownie points, but perhaps as suggested, wait until you know someone better.

Did they say when they would let you know, beyond 'I'll call you later'?

And good luck again with the Debenhams job. To call you back for another interview is fantastic, because it means they have accepted you for you.

Still laughing at the joke. Don't try it in a chemist!

    02/19 - £78,400. 04/19 - £85,000. 05/19 - £83,300. 06/19 - £78,900.
    07/19 - £77,500. 08/19 - £76,000.

And considering you have been invited back to Debenhams, what would you do if you were put in that never imagined position of 2 job offers. You are allowed to dream...

Checking references doesn't necessarily mean you have got the job. I had my references checked once after interview - along with all the other candidates - and the position was eventually re advertised. So it could be a good sign but don't assume so ;)

MSE have now fixed their "misunderstanding" i thought i was gone for good!

My interview today was the worst ever, i cocked it up in an epic fashion :o i survived the initial grilling and explaining about being inside but before the interview this morning i was reading interview tips online and most of them all said to make a joke. Anyway when the owner was showing me around the shop, she showed me the health supplement section which was all bottled pills and capsules. She asked if i have experience in selling items like this? (Here comes the joke) "well my criminal record makes it look like i'm experienced in selling drugs" she did laugh, but i think it was more in disbelief at what i just said. The interview ended with the i'll call you back, which usually means no!

Debenhams called as well, another interview thursday, so i hope i get that job :)

I was very surprised indeed to read that advice. Certainly you should be able to smile (but not like a maniac) and appreciate any joke the interviewer tells but don't be the first to joke.

I was thinking of applying to superdrug lol! I will confess that i found it funny, its was just a quick witted response but after i was kicking myself for saying it, now though it is a positive that i turned my bad points in to something light hearted. As for calling back, she never gave an exact time but i'm hoping its later on today.

If you had totally blown it they would not have bothered with references so all is not lost yet.

    Fingers crossed.

    I like it!

I do to, but I wouldn't like to hear it from an interviewee - I think it went a bit too far and made light of the contrition you have shown.

I haven't got a job but a 4 week paid trial and if the trial goes well, it will be a permanent position :jshe says she does this with all her staff. I was thinking it was my joke which might have impressed her but it wasn't, she said i come across as a lovely young lad and what impressed her most was when i was leaving the shop, i stood back and held the door open for an elderly lady coming in. I just do that naturally, the old "after you my love ladies first" she liked seeing that as she says not many young lads nowadays do that.

I'm now getting really nervous because its my first job in 2 years and its crossing my mind that i wont fit in and the other staff might not like me. I really want to impress because its £7.20 an hour, 40 hours a week and that is more than enough for me to get back on track. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i cant believe it!
