How to get a job after being in prison? Divine intervention?

Good luck Scuffer. Even if it takes you through more frustrations and challenges before you get there, remember that the hard part will be that first job, after that, it will get easier as you build good references.
Don't forget too that there are still people who much prefer to judge their own judgement that someone's past on a piece of paper, so don't ever give up.
As for your family, it is such a pity that they are currently defining by what you've done in the past rather than who you are now and what you will be in the future. I suspect they will kick themselves one day for not having given you the support you needed now, but that will be something they will have to live with just as you now have to live with the consequences of your errors.
I really cross my fingers for you, but I'm sure you will get there sooner or later.there has been a little development with my mum. My auntie spoke to her because i was worried she wouldn't give me a reference and she has agreed to provide it. Its only a small step but at least she can see i am trying to sort my life out.

Very good to read, scuffer. You must feel better for this[and Mum will too, regardless of any contrary signs/sounds]. How was footprints?

Did you send a follow-up Thankyou along with call to HR for 1st i/v feedback?
Why not send another, highlighting 'all my future applications would receive a thorough review', with a pointer to your new appn.
Just a bit more gentle bullying:-)
3-0, hat-trick...good portents:j, defence blips notwithstanding.

Fair do's re:appn. It will be terrific if they pick up on your name and you have the same i/v team. Is it a similar department? -
Be moderately happy with 3-0. Across the channel this happened tonight and I'm not happy either:

As a life-skill, the exercise of free choice is muted/extinguished in prison. It becomes defensive, self-protective. Flashback memories of events/people before you began sentence don't necessarily bring comfort. Post-release, inmates carry many raw/tender points for flashback to strike. Maybe a tone of voice or intonation, an expression[spoken/facial], a silhouette, blue/white striped shirts, a food-type, an interaction, will set off some chain of association. This is part of the scarring that will fade over time.
Just cherry-pick from what footprints have to offer. Was free i/net and/or wi-fi access indicated anywhere? That would be useful and practical.

MSE have now fixed their "misunderstanding" i thought i was gone for good!
My interview today was the worst ever, i cocked it up in an epic fashioni survived the initial grilling and explaining about being inside but before the interview this morning i was reading interview tips online and most of them all said to make a joke. Anyway when the owner was showing me around the shop, she showed me the health supplement section which was all bottled pills and capsules. She asked if i have experience in selling items like this? (Here comes the joke) "well my criminal record makes it look like i'm experienced in selling drugs" she did laugh, but i think it was more in disbelief at what i just said. The interview ended with the i'll call you back, which usually means no!
Debenhams called as well, another interview thursday, so i hope i get that jobActions have reactions,

You really said "well my criminal record makes it look like i'm experienced in selling drugs"?

If its any consolation, I have blown the odd interview by uttering a bad joke. I am generally a happy-go-lucky sort of person who is naturally funny without really trying (or so I am told) - so I often crack jokes or say one liners without really thinking. Great for building relationships - not quite so good for interviews. Having said that - if I was interviewing someone and they had come up with your joke, I would have given them a bonus point! lol
Good luck with the Debenhams job. That sounds rather encouraging0
