Hi Scuffer,
Come here from your other thread. I saw an earlier post mentioning Timpsons and being intrigued, I was googling and came across this article. Thought you might find it useful as it mentions other employers following their lead.

Great to read your supportive, straightforward post Spendless. A number tend to churn from loaded agenda, not why St Martin of Lewis started mse.
Yes, Timpsons have long lead the way. However, even since last Aug[article date]prisons are in even more disarray, imposed by cuts and legislation, given that 'prison=soft option' is a vote-winner[but we vote this lot out May 2015:-)]

It's a bit late to think about that now, and they let you out so now the slate is clean. As for the prision record, you might as well lie about it, what have you got to lose?
Perhaps with comments like this suggests that you have some experience of this Crazy.
As with any application there is usually a line at the bottom that reads along the lines of the information is correct to the best of my knowledge, I understand that supplying any false information may result in termination of any position I am offered. and then you sign it.
So do not tell lies or with hold information when asked you will only get caught and then be back to square one in an even worse position as the next employer will want to know why left you last position (answer: hmmm cos I lied at this stage, Employers response: thanks for wasting my time.)[strike]Debt 1 £50.70[/strike]Paid:D

I contacted insidetime and they forwarded me to a local ex offender charity called the footprints project. I've already spoken with them and they sound really helpful. They are going to assign me a mentor who will help me with finding employment and also help with getting me and my family to reconnect.
I really hope your family can forgive you. You did wrong but you've been punished and you've learnt from it. I hope the rifts can be healed, wish you the best of luck0 -

I'm on tenterhooks, too. But if that one doesn't work out, I have some suggestions. They are very naive suggestions, so take them more as brainstorming than as anything else - someone else may be able to build on them and develop something which works!
You have quite a lot to offer. Obviously bright, and I'll buy into the 'naive mule' story. Really sorry that you were exploited like this. Charities which work with drugs and prison offenders - and kids - might LOVE to have you as an employee! I'd focus my initial volunteering efforts on these charities - you have a story to tell and your real remorse shines through. You could help and a volunteer and potentially a speaker, as time goes on. And volunteering in either of these fields could only help your CV.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
And unfortunately on this occasion my application has been unsuccessful. But they did say;
You were an exceptional candidate for the position and we hope that you apply for further positions within debenhams for which you qualify in the future. While you were not selected for the available position, the interview team did not make this decision lightly. Your future applications will receive a thorough review. Again, thank you for taking the time to come to debenhams to meet our interview team. We enjoyed meeting you and our discussions indicated that you have much to offer your next employer.
I dont know if they send that to everyone, but it makes me think i was close to getting the job. I just have to dust myself off and try againActions have reactions,

Speaking directly from recent experience we sent out emails to candidates who didn't receive an interview however we thought were good and would have been interviewed for roles in the near future we're going to advertise for.
There was about 15 candidates that we sent an extra paragraph in the unsuccessful email explaining the above. Hopefully they will apply once the new roles are advertised.
Just to give experience from the employer side.0
