nice try but I never said to lie if asked and you even quoted me making that point, that you had to tell the truth is asked, you were trying to say you had to disclose it if asked or not, which is not the case.

This is great and exactly what i need. I will call insidetime after my interview in the morning and see what help is actually available to me because my ruthless non stop applying for jobs isn't really working.

Good luck with that interview - I've lifted a section from Inside Times and done the initial link searches to get you started, after you've spoken with them. Let them know about the Codecraft thing on Outmates:

Scuffer, too much 'anything/anything' blind driving at interviews is self-defeating, disheartening, debilitating, as you are finding.
'because my ruthless non stop applying for jobs isn't really working.'
It's a 'pick your battles' time, finetuned to 'define your target' in your case.
I'd strongly suggest you begin volunteering in an organisation whose principles chime with you, then keep going after you are in work. Let them know this fluctuating availability may feature from the start.

The same applies with any prospective employer, in so far as you let them know that this activity features prominently in your life. That's why it should be something you care about now. When you are in work, it will continue.
    Do you know moneywaster2007's Thread?
Worth a read. He's young, made mistakes, has come right.

Look at my signature: I think a CAP money course is a good idea for your new start, from right now and my gut feeling is that you are a brilliant candidate for this.. They don't proselytise and Martin rates them highly. If money-by-risk[and what a price you paid/are paying]felt necessary then, sound money practice now, esp. if you are on JSA for a bit, is essential and will massively, ridiculously easily build real self-esteem. It's totally addictive in the best way.

    https://www.capmoney.org/
    https://www.capuk.org/about-us

They regularly win big 'Best Small Business Awards'[if you need that reassurance]and you can help others too.

Being £savvy is of course why Martin started this site and look how it has grown to bringing you here, where most people want to help, some have their own agenda, are nuisance-y...rather like Life?

For me, strictest harridan of the grammar police, this is the worst offence on your Thread:-)

I contacted insidetime and they forwarded me to a local ex offender charity called the footprints project. I've already spoken with them and they sound really helpful. They are going to assign me a mentor who will help me with finding employment and also help with getting me and my family to reconnect. I also have just completed the online application for jobseeker allowance because i've now run out of the money i had from selling my car after i got out. Today seems much better even though i feel my interview is going to be another fail.

I will look into a CAP money course and i just want to say thanks for all the information you and everyone provided me with. I wouldn't have known any of this if it wasn't for this thread. I really appreciate everything :)

I'm delighted by your news Scuffer.
Great initiative on your part and they're local.
They'll be much better primed than your probation officer and be less case-load harrassed, more focussed.

Family repair will happen as and when, or not at all, over which stoicism will become your natural default. No scar-picking, Scuffer. Early days. Do not be looking there right now.

    Bestest Well done! is 'have':-)

If you are still chez la bonne tante and she's a MrT shopper, you need to swing her to being points savvy, for both of you. Loads of Threads on mse. You can do this as well - then build your canny points total by 'wombling' [no, your homework is to search for this info. - loads on Threads, even by moi!]and perhaps getting into YHA nights away without using cash etc.etc.
The other definite devoir is to sign up for your My Waitrose card and know you can rely on that pleasant Free Drink pause in your day. I do a lot of newspaper reading in civilised surroundings that I can't get online[i.e. loathsome Murdoch Times]and won't lay out money for. Good thinking pause and people-watching, plus a free newspaper counted in the £5 spend if you do that. Dear w8r0s are supremely haggle-able near day's end. Also, promos and deals work on their reduced items. You'd run a mile with blushment cheeks were you with me. Hope Aunt and you can enjoy this. I play Mr T and W8r0s in happy tandem.
It's all a great game Scuffer - and you have earnt the right to play and win and you will be ever alive to this now, given your self-inflicted apprenticeship.

Do read moneywaster's Thread - it and he have grown and grown, impressively.
