Speaking directly from recent experience we sent out emails to candidates who didn't receive an interview however we thought were good and would have been interviewed for roles in the near future we're going to advertise for.

There was about 15 candidates that we sent an extra paragraph in the unsuccessful email explaining the above. Hopefully they will apply once the new roles are advertised.

Just to give experience from the employer side.
That has really made my day knowing that :) how long should i wait before applying for another position at debenhams? I dont want them to think i'm needy and pestering them.

If there are any other positions then apply for them.

This isn't about appearing 'needy and pestering them'. You have a need - you want a job! You are not pestering them - they have advertised and you are answering their advertisement!

    Well done you!

    Go for it!

I can only speak on behalf of my recent experience in my company. I do hope it was the same for Debenhams, however, of course no-one can confirm unless you hear direct from the company involved.

Personally why don't you phone HR in Debenhams to discuss the letter. Check if there are other roles and if they can give you any other feedback.

If one of the candidates had gotten in touch after the extended unsuccessful emails we had sent out I would be more than happy to talk them through the upcoming roles.

I'll try and find the oh so embarrassing thread, they didn't send me your letter though I've only ever received "we encourage you to apply for other openings at the company in future" see nothing like yours , so keep going, it will happen

That reads well, if there can be such a thing as a darned positive Decline letter.

View's posts are the inside track ones you need to go with.
I hope you're making that next application as we speak:-)

Follow up with the HR phone call and an appreciative note to thank them and reinforce their good impression. Why not express that eagerness as you have here?

pmlindyloo is more than right - you ARE needy and they near as darned it said they needed you too, definitely there, almost then. Is this not a recipe for wedded workplace bliss?

    Go woo Debenhams, Scuffer.

Lol i would take Moysie's job and probably do better :p i filled in the online app form this afternoon but if sending an appreciative note and phone call to HR will improve my chances then i'll get on that first thing in the morning. The letter was encouraging although negative at the start it has reignited my hope of getting a job.

With regards to my auntie she always circles jobs in the paper and brings me details of any jobs posted in the local post office or that she has heard of on the grapevine. I dont ask her for help, she just does it out of the kindness of her heart. She's been real good to me, i'll make sure when i get a job half of my first months pay will go to her :)
