Got Stopped today
I have had my van fitted with professional parrot Bluetooth since the name parrot was not even heard before ....so easy , can find any name in a second without touching my phone
yesterday left for work and after a mile from home as I had my phone on my hand typping postcode..bike police on the back, so had to stop
3 points and 100 quid ... not sure if I should appeal this or not .. wasn't talking on the phone ..just typing which I know still dangerous, though is it worth appealing it?

I believe the law is using a handheld phone, if so then there would be no real point in appealing as you were using it. I'm sure if I am wrong someone with better knowledge will be along to correct me.0

Fine points of the law aside, you deserved to be stopped. What you were doing is no different from texting while driving, in my view.
Bikers hate car drivers using phones, and rightly so. Police bikers hate them even more. They have to deal with the consequences. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -

Doesn't matter if you weren't on a phone call I'm afraid, no different to texting whilst driving. An opinion is just that..... An opinion0 -
Bang to rights I'm afraid.0

When my son was caught in similar circumstances I called him a **#* for using his mobile but also for failing to spot the copper before he started using it.0

So if you can find any name without touching your phone how come you were caught using it with your hands? I think I've missed something?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

Sort of, using a mobile is stupid, exceeding the speed limit is stupid as are all sorts of other motoring offences. All are dangerous and should be condemned but who is entirely innocent?TrickyWicky wrote: »Thats as good as telling someone off for getting caught
Getting caught / seen / not spotting plod isn't the issue. The issue is doing something wrong in the first place.
Doing the crime with a police vehicle on your tail however is more than stupid.0 -
As I understand it, if it's in your hand, it's an offence, if it's on a bracket while you've using it, it's OK.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
Can you hold a tom-tom then when stationary but in your car?0
