What are people's experiences with buying sofas from Next? Pricing seems sensible (a bit more than we'd planned, but nothing scary)

A family member recently ordered a sofa from Next, and had a good experience. I can confirm that it's very comfortable as well! It did take around 3 months between order and delivery.

My own sofas are (second-hand) Next ones also. Around 6 years old, and still in pretty good nick, despite having between abused by at least two children and many cats.

Our sofas came from Furniture Village. I'm very pleased with them.

Hi there, we're looking to buy a new sofa soon.

We don't have a huge budget, ruling out the likes of John Lewis etc
But, all I ever see in the vent & consumer rights forums are complaints about the likes of DFS, SCS etc and it's really putting me off with their dodgy pricing tactics and poor customer service.

Are there any real alternatives, or do we need to stump up the extra money?

Frankly I usually ignore those kind of complaints. I'm not saying they are not genuine but people rarely go on to sites to praise companies and let's be honest most of us get good service in the majority of places.

As for pricing tactics, ignore them, the only thing that counts is whether or not you think the price at the time is reasonable. Personally I've never had a problem with Furniture Village, also I'd never order a sofa online, it's something I have to try out first, the same with beds.
    It's someone else's fault.

When i was looking for a sofa I didn't want to use one of the sheds - too many horror stories. But I looked round them all to get ideas, and they are all full, without exception, of horrid old fashioned sofas.

I ended up here: http://www.denelli.co.uk/ and very pleased with their much more modern selection - not cheap but not much more than the DFSs of this world.

I also have 2 DFS sofas purchased about 7 years ago and are still in good condition given there age. Never had any problems, even with children jumping on them from time to time.

With regards the price, I never look at the fact that the DFS, or anywhere of that ilk, have a sale on (as they always do), I just think do i think this is worth the money to me at whatever price it is.

Also the 3 years interest free helps as given the price and 36 months to pay you hardly notice you are paying for it.

Would have been more than miffed if it had not lasted 3 years and still paying but cant really argue with 7 years, and one house move later and still looks good. Would use DFS again too.

We have a sofa from Ikea that we've had for at least 7 years and it's still in really good nick. The covers are removable and although it says dry clean only, I've always washed them and they've come out fine.

We also have a sofabed that we bought from Laura Ashley that was reduced to £700 from £1400. We thought we'd be getting a good quality sofa from them, but it's been rubbish. It wasn't long before the cushions went saggy and they dip in the middle. Also, the mattress is a thin foam one. Wish we'd bought the Ektorp sofabed from Ikea instead as that has a sprung matress.

Well I finally found the paperwork for our current sofa - which is in an appalling condition after just 3 years - and it did in fact come from DFS - so will be staying well away from there!
