I had this vision of an oil drum sized drill bit at the end of the OP's drill!
Glad it wasn't just me.0 -

One question , what mm drill bit for the power cable to the light ?
I can see plenty of 16mm 400mm drill bits , but the cable covers are 8mm....any ideas?Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
Install many lights, all on individual cables! Fill the hole with power cables and illuminate your whole estate - think Checkpoint Charlie....
Or fill hole outside with mastic when done.
You can get thinner drill bits (I have a 10, 12, 16, 20 set from Aldi, but that's 'cos I'm a cheapskate) but they are more fragile and wobble. A big tool will suit, just ask Mrs D.
Does she like a Bishop's finger of an evening too?0 -

Bishop's Finger is very nice but not conducive to DIY, even a bit of measuring
This is why all these tradesmen say measure twice (at least one of those times should be while sober...)"We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -
