 I hope you have a lovely long lie in honey. I'm just saying hi as I'm off to bed now myself.

I'm going to have to break it to the cat that the gas fire is going off now. :D  I'm sure if he could he'd switch it on himself - then try to scorch his eyeballs staring into it.:D

    Love Jacks xxx :D

  • Morning! Well so much to the lie in - woke at 5 & freezer defrosting by 6!! Very unimpressed with waterstones books who I have emailed as I ordered books last week & they NOW tell me that neither are in stock which means I have had to pay over the odds/packaging for one of them so VERY unimpressed. Todays tasks are freezer, get tree, go to dump, get log for turtle, make nougat & a definate snooze needed this afternoon. Going to have chinese tonight and may get a dvd. Pressies to wrap & tree to do which I love & looking forward to the last one of cranford tomorrow! Sad eh! How did the cat cope Jacks!!!

I love it! Hi ISOM! I keep my Christmas tree in my garage - its incredibly dfw, as its a seven foot clipping from the top of an ash tree thats growing too near my house. I brush down the cobwebs, spray or dab a bit more gold paint, and bob's your uncle. Glad somebody else is planning a snooze this afternoon - this is my "works do" tonight, and I've only had about 5 hours sleep, its really not enough, so will catch up later. Hope you have a good one.
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • evening all! Well got it al done except for pressies which I'll wrap later! Tree is up & I've gone minimal his year - 4 foot tree which fits nicely and cost 15 and turtle about to get her lovely new bit of wood to bask on! Cats all now exhausted having got very interested in the tree & now pooped with all that chasing! Havent gone OTT this year & its nicer! Tend to do the classic look!! Didnt get to the allotment but have a week off in Jan so will catch up then! This eve just going to chill. Mum is now in her own home & feeling better but still talking about working on Weds so I had strng words and reminded her shes 68, just come back from 3 months in a third world country & has been in hospital & to take her own advice & rest! We'll see!! Hope you're all ok. Love the tree K - very DFW indeed!! Mine is more DFW this year as half the price & used existing decs! Not sure about the nougat - all looks burned again grrrr! This sweet making is actually v. hard work! Need to investiate easy recipes...

  • Evening all. Just back from a days shopping in Bristol. Met my cousin & her husband & daughter for a lovely brekie in a an old transport cafe that has been done up glam & luscious and does the most yummy food! Had pancakes & sausage with bacon & maple syrup for breakkie with latte. Yum! Then cousin & I went to see my sister on the grand pressie swap! Dropped her home & then went to cribbs causeway and got mums present and winter boots for me. Expensive but good quality & 40 off but hopefully will last. I did try to get some extra off as they were well tried on & the last pair but she was having none of it!! Never mind. I tried! Got my book for book club (clockwork orange) and that was it! Couple of stocking bits from whittard but pretty much done now! Last one of cranford tonight and really looking forward to it. Need to have a think about best way to shift the stone I've put on but at last can say I will be happy at a 14 & grinned all the way to Bristol with this realisatio this morning! Felt good having struggled for an evasive 12 for years but when I got there just didnt think it suited me & I looked rubbish - gaunt and (yahoo!!) finally realised that I actually like my curves! Amazing to feel like that at last! I do want to get rid of a bit of my tummy so a stone or so to be worked on after Christmas. WIne consumption needs reducing me thinks and generally just cut down, eat fruit & run/swim more! Hope you're all ok & have had good days...will catch up now. Flippin freezing here!!

  • Yay a no spender for me! Was taken out to lunch which was yummy! Got home to a letter from mort saying I was in arrears which I wasnt and rang to speak to a manager to get it sorted. Really annoying! Its the second !!!! up and I only started the mort with them last month & told them it wasnt good enough & find it v.stressful...of to sort car tax or it wont be done by Christmas due to post...have done my cards though!

  • Well sorted cards and they're off. Got one more small pressie to get! Great news is that someone rang about regular weekend babysitting so fingers crossed for when I meet her on Thurs! 2 days let off work & then a blissful week pluss off! Mum coming on Fri & having my hair cut. Getting my ring back on Sat - I had it made when grany died and waited to have it resized & have gne from a ring size O to a J 1/2!! Almost child size & its these things that make me realise how far I've come in the last year. Debt hasnt come down as much as I would like but the diet cost about 3000 when taking into account the diet plus 8 new wardrobes!! Worth every penny mind you! Had a lovely Christmas meal with work where we did the secret santa & I was given posh Jam labels & tops. Food was all you can eat for 6 very DFW & we got out moneys worth!! Then phisio which was great as he thinks they can fix me! I have a lump on my lower back which I am waiting to have removed and must chase this up! Friday is assessment re my feet (biomechaical assessment for those that know!) & hopefully that & phiso will mean that running will be easier & less stress on my hips which he thinks is possibly muscular...we shall see! Off to chill. Watching the man who needs to loose 30 stone and have huge compasion for him as I know what it feels like to be huge - people treat you so differently and i had one lad screaming "fat cow! at me in the street which hurts to the bone. What can you say to that when you feel like a fat cow eh? No more & never again...

  • yes definately sea! Noone spat at me yet but then that would be just like a day at work lol!! Pay day tomorrow but its gonna be a slow month! Still got food shopping to get but trying to be positive that I end the year not overdrawn & all Christmas presents brought but no savings left! Going for a 0% cc as my other runs out in Feb...waiting to hear from egg whether I have anniversary offer & of not will close that & get a new one or slog to pay the current one off! Seeing a woman about new babysitting tomorrow & rang the others to say I have a pressie for the boys (small) and they may want some hours over Christmas which will be great! Hope youre all ok!

  • Feeling crap. Trying to be positive & not down as so cloe to Christmas but finding it hard after the latest expensive setback. Went to bed last night - all fine. Woke up this morning & house cold, no hot water....called a plumber (after managing to get people to cover my duty in work...major hassle for them as people busy this time of year...). Plumber came out and thinks it can be fixed tomorrow but its going to cost me nearly £400..plus the house is freezing & there's no hot water so my jungle training has come in handy but cant wait to get up early to boil water for another delightful strip wash tomorrow in the freezing cold! Thankfully I didnt take the fan heater out when I redecorated so I can bung that on while the water boils!!
So the backdated pay that I was looking forward to has literally gone up in a puff of smoke as the part is the bit that gets the gas to "light" effectively..thats broken.
Worked out what I've paid off this year and its over £5401.36 but this is less than I would have liked. Part of the reason is things like this bill and Maceys vet bill plus the diet was very expensive so all in all I guess its not terrible but I just feel like I'm running fast and getting nowhere IYKWIM.
I will make a concerted effort next year to get the CC's down as these have not shifted as much as I would have liked. Just applied for a 0% barclaycard offer but they have deferred a decision, even though my credit rating was excellent according to the soft check that was done. All I can think of is that the cards I've cancelled havent let them know that I have so its showing more credit than I have or use...Its not the end of the world if I dont get it. Current 0% ends in Feb & Jan pay will be good as lots of expenses & two months out of hours to go on & paying interest will be an added incentive to pay stuff off faster. What was really depressing was tax/ni of almost 1000 coming out of his months pay! If I didnt have to pay it I'd have the lot paid off in no time!!
Could be alot worse off I know but just having one of those "will this ever end" days when the debt is frustrating & a worry and making me want to cry TBH. OK...so the positives...despite the gas setback I've still paid off over 770 this month...I found plumbers who can hopefully fix this and they came out today & will come again tomorrow when the part is in, they're girlies & I trusted them with the key! ...I will appreciate the heating more...nothing blew up...my collegues were v.supportive & sympathetic in supporting me practically & emotonally plus at least I have heating to fix which I know some dont...
I did postpone the babysitting interview as wasnt sure how long it would all take - almost a day in the end but there is loads to catch up on in Jan so will get pleanty of time off! and finally only a day left in work! I have a biomechanical assessment tomorrow am then go to get the part then back to work for a few hours then home & haircut & seeing my mum who was v.sympathetic & shares my "what next" frusrations! I know its life & these happen but that feel good feeling with the payrise disappeared so quickly that it was quite gutting TBH!! SO much to paying of nearly 1000 this month which was my aim...onwards & upwards!
