Received into my account recently £134.25 from Npower from when I switched from them in August 2012, and £53.27 from Scottish Power which I can only guess is from when I switched from them in 2009!0

I switched from Npower 3 months ago and my account was in credit so after 2 weeks I phoned and asked for my final account and a refund. I was told that this would take 30 days and possibly another two weeks on top of that and that my new supplier had not passed on the final meter readings. I supplied the readings and after six weeks called them again.
This time I was told that my details were being passed on to the complaints team who specialise in manually producing final accounts and refunds and that I should receive both in 10 days or less.
A month later I called again to complain and mentioned the energy ombudsman was my next step. I was told to lodge an official complaint, which I did, and that there was a glitch on my account that had blocked it and that my new supplier had not passed on my final gas meter reading etc etc. I was given a unique reference no and told that I would be contacted within 10 days.
My response was that if nothing had happened in that time I would be contacting the energy ombudsman and I also mentioned Martin Lewis. Lo and behold the refund for almost £130 was in my account the next day!!!0 -
I'm fed up with Scottish Power now. They 'lost' my original complaint so I had to re-raise it, then they never followed up on it. I received a letter from them claiming they had tried to contact me about it (but no calls/messages received) and that without speaking to the person handling the complaint, they can't take it any further.
The problem is, the complaint handler is not reachable by phone - they say they can't put me through to him and can only email him to request a callback! (Which, multiple times now, just does not happen). So they are just stalling and stalling.
I didn't think I'd spend much time on this but their appalling handling has motivated me to chase it up. I guess the only thing left is to go through the ombudsman...0 -
Still waiting to claim from February off iSupply Energy. Even the Energy Ombudsman is ignoring my case. I refuse to go through the energy companies complaints process as it is only being used to slow down the refund and gain more money in interest. The complaints procedure should be there for when you're complaining about the product you are receiving as a customer. Not about theft by withholding money from a non customer...0

In 2013 my mother died. My vulnerable father moved 120 miles to live with me. Contacted N Power to ask for direct debit to be reduced pending sale of property. THEY ACTUALLY INCREASED IT. Sent in Power of Attorney documents. The presumed this mean't Dad was dead ...causing more upset. When house sold asked them repeatedly to send final bill. Instead of doing this THEY SET UP A NEW TARIFF. They continued to take direct debit at 200.00 pounds per month. Cancelled direct debit. Immediately got letter containing clause that they might sue me. They can do some stuff quickly. Made formal complaint. They did not deal with it so I could now approach ombudsman. Got final bill some eight weeks ago but still no money refunded. They owe my dad approximately 1500 pounds. Ombudsman having another go at case because no money received.
What do I have to do to get my Dad's money. N Power are making a profit out of a vulnerable old man who has worked since he is 14 and served his country after the war. The system is set up so that they do not have to pay interest on the money they keep in this way. That is disgraceful.
I hate N Power for the stress they are causing me, for the hours I have spent on their *help* line and from the time it takes away from looking after my Dad. It is now nearly a year since we asked them to reduce direct debit. I now know that the monthly bill stood at approx 4.00 per month but they continued to take 200.
Could we have a campaign to find out who they owe the most to? If my Dad had not had me looking out for him this money would just have been kept. The Ombudsman should have scope to award a punitive settlement in cases like these.0 -
Yay! Thanks mse. Just got my weekly email and read about energy firms keeping your dosh. I switched from NPower in Dec, so had a quick check, one phone call later and I had £215 back, which I had completely overlooked.

Thanks to your article I checked my bills online having transferred from Npower last year and then went back again. I had just under £100 owing to me but could find no record of it being set against my new account or credited to my bank account. On phoning NPower they checked their records and could see this so have credited my current NPower account with this money - took less than 5 minutes. Thank you - without the article I had made an assumption that I had been refunded or credited.0

some years ago I switched from NPower, I asked them to send me a final settlement bill, they just kept sending a bill, but no the final one, I refused to pay this until I had received the final bill as they could have then tried to claim more money from me, they sent me threatening letters telling me that they would send the Bailiff's to my home, I told them to go ahead, or take me to court, the money was there waiting to pay them, their excuse was that it would take 28 days to generate, fine by me, eventually I threatened them with court action, and low and behold, the bill arrived in a few day, I then paid them, they are are bunch of crooks, just stand up to them.0
