I had a similar experience at Renault once. The guy told me 'don't worry about the price dear, if it's a bit much for you we'll just put it over another year for you'. 'But how much are you charging for the car and what is the APR?' 'You don't need to confuse yourself with numbers, all that matters is how much you're paying every month'.:eek::eek:. Shame I was doing a mystery shop at the time :rotfl:, that was fun to write up

Bahaha, glad it was a mystery shop GG!
Car sales seem to revolve so much around monthly price, it's crazy. Dread to think how much interest they're charging people who don't tend to realise the true cost of it. When I bought my current car there was a big event on at one garage about saving people money by finding them another car, however it was just about having lower monthly payments - half of them were probably paying more taking on a loan over 5 years with a big interest rate!
I hope you find a better deal elsewhere RT!
Thanks Beckyy. I think we might have got a better deal today actually, don't want to tempt fate by saying too much, but got a significantly better offer from another dealer a little further away, and found a car we like the look of with them at a good price. Reserved it to do a deal tomorrow all being well. And it's red so DS will be thrilled - he's obsessed with red cars at the mo
I agree though it is shocking how much people must pay for their cars over time. I think only about 10% of my friends actually own their cars, most of them go from one loan to another, they just sort of rent them!Life is changing...but I'm still Money Saving!0 -

Hi Ed, is that the DC5? [STRIKE] I can't believe I'm sad enough to know them by name[/STRIKE]. I know someone who has that and the Air Ram and does prefer the Dyson. Is the Animal good then? I tell you, before you know it you'll be saying things like "we need an Air Ram as well as a Dyson, and a swivel sweeper just to pick up Cheerios"

Hi, when Mr T decided to buy a car we tried the local dealership and walked out in disgust. Service, attitude etc were truly appalling. We ended up driving 2.5 hours away the following day, exactly the right car, loads of extras thrown in, decent guy to speak with - one car sold on the spot.
Good luck with your negotiating.
Re vacuum, we have a Henry, brilliant at picking up everything but it's a bit of a pain to drag around.

Tilly I think you've just described our experience recently! The dealership we've used previously was a family firm, it's now a massive faceless national company, but so is the place I think we'll end up buying from, yet (thus far) they seem to know the value of good customer service!
A good friend of mine was telling me she's had a Henry for eons - in the time she's had it she's also had Hoovers, Dysons etc. She reckons the Henry just laughs and says he's seen 'em come, and seen 'em go :rotfl:Life is changing...but I'm still Money Saving!0 -
The animal is great, ours is like new after [STRIKE]weekly[/STRIKE] fortnightly? hoovering for 4 years or so.
Using a Dyson on cheap carpet is fun - we could pretty much lift the carpet in our old place with it0 -

Ed :rotfl:. It's the same with our carpets - when we bought them the sales chap said "you can chuck bleach on this one love" and (looking at DS who was destroying a showroom sample at the time) I said "I think that's where we're at"Life is changing...but I'm still Money Saving!0 -
We've got the Miele Cat and Dog and it's awesome, a bit on the heavy side to carry upstairs (but we're about to do the whole of the downstairs in Colonial so it can live upstairs soon), but it eats everything in it's path. MIL has bought one after using ours and loves it, she has a Henry as well but finds it too awkward for everyday use.
I enjoyed Pat as did DD (she's 3.5) a few adult laughs (loved Simon Cowbell), a bit cheesy in places but to be expected, good soundtrack.
Hadn't seen they had opened a Pat world, might have a look and cost it up, especially if we can find a caravan park near by to stay at.
Good luck with the car hunt.0 -

We have a Henry and every time I use him I loathe him a bit more, he's so heavy to pull around and he's constantly getting stuck on things and falling over :eek: Dh makes me feel guilty about wanting to get rid of him though, makes out like he's a family pet or something :rotfl:Mortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Oh gosh Crumpets that made me howl with laughter, the idea of the Henry being like a family pet :rotfl:. Welshlassie Miele are supposed to be the best aren't they? Btw if we visit Postman Pat I'll PM you with my Trip Advisor-style review
Well I think I've struck a deal on the same red Zafira that we wanted with the local horrible dealership with another seller for £2000 less - so take that patronizing salesman [does rubbish virtual karate chop]. More info to follow if it all comes off ok in a couple of week's time...
Not much else to post on specific MSE news, I've been having quite a good think about our lifestyle (such as it is) and what money we have available now, and what we want to do in the short-medium-long term etc, but haven't got time to witter on about it tonight. My OH is working crazy hours atm and there's a lot else going on (father is ill, though he'll recover thankfully) and a few other bits and pieces, but as soon as time allows I'll post my musings and see what you all think. I can tell you're just desperate for an update now aren't you? Erm, who's that snoring at the back? :rotfl:
Hope all are well in MSE-land :money:Life is changing...but I'm still Money Saving!0
