Hi all, sorry for the radio silence again she says, kind of hoping she might have been missed a teeny bit ;). Lots going on with sniffly kids (aggaaaiiiin argh ) and teacher training/half term madness

OH got paid today so I made our usual OP of £209 :T. I've updated the sig, it now shows the original mortgage amount after the inheritance and the way it has naturally come down with monthly payments plus planned £209 OP PCM. I was hoping to save an extra £200 this month to re-start our MOS until NPower landed me with a closing bill to the same amount, they've finally calculated it after about two years of trying. I need to get across this site and found responses to the whole NPower debacle as I gather it's been quite high profile and am wondering if anything can be done about it...

Bought a few bits of summery clothing for the kids which has not been cheap, although I got some in Sainsys TU with the 25% off over the bank hol weekend and some more from M&S with their bank hol Friends and Family 20% off code (given to me by another nice lady in the queue :o.) I haven't snipped the tags on much of it as the weather is so changeable I just don't know what we'll get out of it. (Crumpets we haven't bought garden furniture yet for the very same reason!) Picked up 40p that had been dropped in M&S yesterday, every little helps :D. Had a couple of nice days out including a days girly shopping when DS was with my Mum and a trip to see the Postman Pat movie and a pizza just DS and me today which was lovely :p

I desperately need a new iron and board and my vacuum cleaner is on its last hose :rotfl: so for the forseeable I think it's going to be boring domestic spending :( but that's the way it goes I guess

Will try to update more regularly going forward, hope everyone out there in MSE-land is well :)

PS: Crumpets, just by way of clarification, I'm led to believe that criminal psychologists say that murder gets easier after the first time, I haven't actually murdered anyone [STRIKE]yet[/STRIKE] ;)

    I've missed you RT:D

I've also been buying summer clothes for the children, I've been buying stuff on eBay though, the weather is so bloomin miserable at the moment though but I live in hope that we will get a nice summer. I wish we had a sainsburys by us as I hear really good things about their clothes.

Your trip to the cinema with Ds sounds nice, it's really important to spend time with the older ones too. I need to take my own advice there, I was hoping to take dd1 ice skating this half term without the little ones tagging along but we just haven't been able to fit it in:(

Boo to spending on domestic appliances

Re. random acts of kindness - you either look really helpless, or have very nice fellow customers in your local M&S! :rotfl:

I hear that murder is highly overrated, it seems to cause nothing but grief for those Eastenders.
  • Hi Crumpets, Sainsys TU is pretty good, I think it's much of a muchness with Tesco F&F from the odd bits my mum gets for the kids (no Tesco round here) and George at Asda. They do have 25% off every bank hol which is good if you time it right. They don't sell online sadly, I just checked, you can order George clothes on a free Click n Collect though if you have an Asda near?

Ed, I think it's just the people round here, they do seem to be really nice, they're known for it! Both times I've received vouchers the ladies giving them out were going up and down the queue with them :D. It's only a small M&S, it's a small town and we all virtually know each other which is good and bad in a I-want-to-murder-people-sometimes kind of way :rotfl:

Well it's not fab news from here really, we went to our local dealership to check out upgrading the car today. The dealership used to be a family business, very well known, run by the kind of people who give you M&S vouchers ;). They retired and sold up two years ago, literally days after we bought our current car. They were known for giving good prices and people returned to them and repeat purchased. The people who bought them out are a national dealership who I won't mention cos if I did a) I'd get banned for what I would say about them and b) I'd probably have the fuzz at the door with evidence from previous posts re: murderous intent . Essentially they offered me about tuppence ha'penny on a car that they would sell on for several thousand. They were also quite patronising to two women so they've no chance of a deal even if they were selling M&S vouchers with a free Zafira with every purchase :rotfl:. So back to the drawing board car-wise...

Meanwhile our Dyson is on its last...erm...cyclone? :p. It's also heavy and cumbersome, and since OH did her back in she's afraid to try and shift it upstairs. We've been thinking of getting a GTech Air Ram as I know loads of people who rave about them. The Air Ram itself doesn't have tools so we'd need the handheld Multi too, Gtech are offering the two for £299 via their own website. Apparently sales of Gtech are outstripping Dyson massively and it's a huge British success story. I think I'm talking myself into it here :D

I've also decided to try and put some extra money away into our holiday fund. We've had next to no hols in recent years, a combo of not having a lot of spare cash and also DS being so challenging away from his routine. But he's getting easier now, and the money has made all the difference, so hoping for a few little trips away in the forseeable.

Finally, I've booked my cleaner in for a regular slot 1 hour every first Thursday of the month :T. She's brill, a real grafter, she deep cleaned the bathroom the other week and my goodness the difference was incredible. The gardener is here every fortnight and he too is massively improving the outside space, he took down the wasp-attracting trees which has made the garden far lighter and it's really starting to take shape as he's landscaping it as well as maintaining it as he goes along. Daft as it sounds as he's cleared away and cut back we realise just how much garden we've actually got - there's about 2 metres from the edge of the lawn to the fence that we can reclaim! They are both worth every penny :money:

Nice to be back here btw :o. Hope all are well xx

Welcome back RT - sounds like it's been a productive time away :)

I took DD to see Postman Pat, while DS went to see Tarzan with DH. It was lovely having time with DD by myself as DH is a SAHD I don't get time with either of the kidsw by myself that often.

I love TU clothing aswell it generally washes better than F&F and Ge0rge stuff.

I love buying new appliances (bit weird me :) ), finding out how they work and the small of new stuff - think that explains my past spending habits?

I'd love a cleaner but can't justify the cost, but love being in the garden, just don't have enough time for it atm.

I had a similar experience at Renault once. The guy told me 'don't worry about the price dear, if it's a bit much for you we'll just put it over another year for you'. 'But how much are you charging for the car and what is the APR?' 'You don't need to confuse yourself with numbers, all that matters is how much you're paying every month'.:eek::eek:. Shame I was doing a mystery shop at the time :rotfl:, that was fun to write up :D.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Bahaha, glad it was a mystery shop GG!

Car sales seem to revolve so much around monthly price, it's crazy. Dread to think how much interest they're charging people who don't tend to realise the true cost of it. When I bought my current car there was a big event on at one garage about saving people money by finding them another car, however it was just about having lower monthly payments - half of them were probably paying more taking on a loan over 5 years with a big interest rate!

I hope you find a better deal elsewhere RT!

Dyson do a lighter handheld cleaner as well. I am constantly amazed by the amount of crap our 'pet' Dyson sucks up, I dread to think how often I'd need to empty it if we actually had any furry pets (or kids).

Hi Welshlassie :). That's interesting about TU stuff, I don't think I've had enough stuff from Tesco to compare, but thinking about it the TU stuff we've had has washed better than the George stuff - no shrunken Peppa Pig onesies from Sainsys that's for sure :D

I'm not really a gadget person, but I must say the Air Ram does interest me the more mess I have to clean up daily! I *loathe* gardening, to me it's just extra housework with more dirt :rotfl:

Did you enjoy Postman Pat? I've just taken delivery of the first two series on DVD from thirty odd years ago as they've finally been released, there's an advert at the start for Postman Pat world at Longleat! DS is going wappy about it, so that's a trip for this summer I think better re-mortgage now, I bet it'll be £100 for the four of us, you know what the prices are like in Greendale, still it's worth it if I get to pretend I'm Mrs Goggins for a day :rotfl:

    Thanks for dropping by :T
