A car pulled out in front of us today coming off slip road (they weren't allowed to cross at that point) it was moving at a great pace and I was stunned to see it was a woman of around 70! So they are obviously trying hard to overcome the stereotype...:D

  • Hello lgp, Crumpets and s_s, sorry been away with ill kids! Ha ha re: the insurance and reusable cartons. No sign of Theo Paphitis as yet :D

Well I've been stuck in the house wiping snivelling noses since Tues so it's been a series of NSDs! Only spend on Mon was some choccy bunnies left over from Easter in M&S -they had been 60p each, reduced to 30p each, when I got them to the till they came up as 15p each and still on 342 - so instead of getting 1 for 60p I got 6 for 60p :T [STRIKE]I might have gone back round and bought 6 more[/STRIKE] :rotfl:

OH did come home with some tulips for me the other day and they've really cheered the whole house (and me!) up so I might have to buy more cut flowers. Not v MSE, but they really have helped, so may be a good investment.

Cleaner deep cleaned the bathroom today and that was worth £10 of anyone's brass! Gardener is here tomorrow, hoping he's going to cut some conifers down. They take up quite a lot of space and light and we were thinking of getting rid of them, then we realised they are a complete wasp attraction . DS was stung a few years ago when we had a really bad waspy summer and since then we're on red alert. I was going to get a professional tree surgeon in (knowing nothing about this area) but thought it worth checking with the gardener first and he said that he can tackle anything in our garden. So hoping tomorrow that'll be top of his job list. And no extra cost :money:

I paid our annual BT line rental the other day, in previous years it's been £120 so I've been saving £10 pcm, when they contacted me to remind me they informed me it's gone up to £141 and in another couple of weeks it's going up to nearer £160 :(. When DD goes to nursery and I have more time I'm going to assess what we need in terms of Sky/broadband/landline as I'm sure there are better deals out there. As long as we have CBeebies I'll be fine :p

I've found some garden furniture I like - in Asda for £77 :rotfl:. Apparently it's decent enough stuff for the price, one of their best sellers. Typically as soon as I spotted it the sun disappeared and hasn't been back

    That's it for now I think :)

Hello RT, sorry to hear you have had poorly children, but yay for the NSDs :j flowers really do make a a house feel brighter and happier, on the rare occasion that mr C buys me flowers I always vow to buy regular flowers, but when I do the shopping it always seem frivolous so I don't bother...it doesn't have to be expensive though does it.

Great news on the cleaner and the gardener...I'm feeling very envious, particularly about the cleaner at the moment. £77 on garden furniture sounds like a bargain to me :money: go for it, I'm sure the sun will come back out soon, (she says hopefully)

  • I know exactly what you mean Crumpets - I look at the roses & tulips in M&S twice a week & think "ooh they're gorgeous & not a bad price" & then think "ooh it's a bit frivolous though" & move on. Then I get home & think they'd have looked lovely above the naff fire :rotfl:

Kids are on the mend, well they're doing my head in so they must be better

Great idea about sweet peas s_s, thanks :)

The garden furniture is called Miami if you want to check it out. I saw it in the store & it looked pretty sturdy. Don't want to spend a bomb as it'll only be there a couple of years at most prob. The sun has just come out so it could be back on the old agenda :T

Just been looking at the Miami garden furniture, I think it looks great

We were considering new garden furniture , but we've decided to refurbish our current table and chairs, but Miami was the sort of look I was thinking of

Check you out with your M&S flowers, I was thinking more like Aldo carnations :rotfl: the garden furniture looks good, I know a few people with similar sets and I think they're definitely worth the money.

  • When I first saw the Miami from a distance when I walked into the store I thought it was going to look naff when I got up close - you know, when you're near to it and even with no-one sitting on them the chair legs don't all touch the floor :D but it looked really solid. I think it's got 140+ top reviews online too.

Crumpets I've bought fleurs for my Mum from M&S before and they lasted and lasted and lasted. They always look the best quality when I go past them too, I think some of them have a 10 day guarantee or something. Wanders off sheepishly ;)
