Mmmmm... I bought the stuff to do these last night, but didn't have the time... Are they as good as everyone says???

I've made a couple of batches. First time I followed recipe almost to the letter (just cut the sugar down by 1oz). Very yummy, but ended up with about 50 of them, which unfortunately were demolished in about 4 days.

Tried making a second batch this week, but only made half the quantity, and still got 26 out of it! I used butter instead of marg and cut the sugar down by 1oz again and included 1oz of plain chocolate drops instead. I didn't leave the mixture long enough before adding the chocolate drops, so they melted and I ended up with brown, slightly chocolate flavoured biscuits, which wasn't the result I was after. DD won't eat them as she insists they are burnt (more for me :T). I think that they are still yummy, and I'll try again next week with the choc drops but let it cool down properly first.

I may even try adding a few chopped dried apricots, as well as plain chocolate, then I could eat a few extra because all that iron would be good for me...

Had a lovely time with sprogs at theme park today, weather held fine all day until we were driving home, when it came down in bucketfulls again.

Now off to do a bit of tidying up as the survey on our house is being done at 9am (grr DH booked that!). Might join you in the ironing contest afterwards, while watching a film with OH. This will be my total contribution towards housework today!

    Love,

    Hi everyone

You have all been busy bees today, not had chance to fly toady as I have been at w**k.

Now sat down here after catching up with my friend and then getting DD and DS ready and into bed. Just printed off ebay invoices and starting to package up whilst catching up with you lot :)

Only 4 days!! They are known as werewolf biscuits in our house as they disappear by the time the moon is up...

I didn't dare switch on the PC before starting this morning, as I'm still feeling washed out after Tuesday's bug, and disappointment, and I knew once I got on here, nothing else would get done!

So, I did the sittingroom, hoovered all the ground floor, and did a lightning strike on the master bedroom - which still has far too much stuff in it, that I can't throw away, and can't find another home for... where do you all keep:
    a) sleeping bags/camping mats
    b) DH's collection of car magazines (now about twice the size of those ironing mountains...)
    c) board games that the children have no room for in their rooms
d)bags of soft toys they can't bear to part with, but don't have room for

    I'll do the bathroom tomorrow.

Also dashed down the allotment before it started raining again, so I shan't have to go out and buy veggies. Slugs have eaten nearly all my French bean plants, and badly attacked the lettuces, in just a week. Ggrrrr....

Just a few questions for people though...
Do you hover your matteress weekly, do you recon it needs to be done this often?
How often do you clean your oven...I was thinking about doing it fortnightly to monthly.

I wonder about this too ... how far do you let things go? Surely windows don't really need cleaning every week? Obviousy it's different if you've got pets who lick the glass or small children with hier sticky paws.

My only complaint about being a flyer is that the place looks so clean that when I clean it, it still looks the same. In the bad old days I let things get so dirty that when I cleaned the diference was startling. And I really do mean dirty. :o So in a way it was more satisfying then.

Now I have the ENORMOUS satisfaction that basically everything looks OK, but I miss the sense of achievement that dealing with extreme dirt and mess gave me.

So maybe you could leave your oven for just a little bit longer, then have the
fun of scraping the muck off with a chisel.

Li'l_me, you really are a special person. How kind to let Holly go. Very good luck for tomorrow, I hope DS gets on well on his visit.

Don't have a) c) or d) yet - but b) in our case Farmers Weekly - get tidied up to a very special place ;) that I can't quite get to just yet if ever a query is made... the thought usually has left OH's head a couple of seconds after it has left his mouth, so I haven't been found out yet....

    Evening everyone.

We had a lovely day out, only one paddy from his lordship when he had to sit on my knee for a 5 mile car trip, and wanted to stand up and i wouldn't let him. Moral of the story, it is always worth swapping the car seat from one car to another.

Anyway, was out of the house from 7:30am to 5pm. Then got in, fed Charlie and bathed him, then discovered more hoppers, so spent 20 minutes hoovering, then let Charlie play some more, then his bottle and bed.

Since then i sorted out a load of washing, and not much else. DH sorted tea as i am so poopered. (only heat from frozen pasta with garlic bread, and a tin of toms with chilli powder - but very tasty). I realised i will be exhausted when i go back to work so i will spend a couple of weeks in the summer hols preparing quick and easy stuff for reheating.

Anyway, DH managed to get me a new big airer on his way home from work, so tomorrow will involve catching up with the washing a bit, and taking Charlie to possibly both playgroups as we haven't been to either in a couple of weeks due to floods and illness.

Just chilling with a glass of vino, but stull have washing up, and baby bottles to do before bed,

  • I'm joining the can't be bothered group today. I've done nothing. Work has taken a turn for the stressful and full of office politics which I really don't like. After 48 hours of no pepsi max I was feeling really really bad, so gave in and had a can of diet coke, so I could actually get through the afternoon, came home from work and flopped on the sofa watching episodes of Top Gear that I hadn't seen on UKG2. Thankfully no kids rooms for me tomorrow, so I'll play catch up then.

For those who have seen it look away http://ag.arizona.edu/pubs/insects/az1320/bed-bugsalt.jpg reason I vacuum my bed weekly. I don't want them in mine!!! Regular cleaning of linen, vacuuming mattresses and airing bedding on sunny days helps keep BED BUGS out!

Oven, usually mines done fortnightly. Depends how much it's been used. Just bought a liner for the bottom which will hopefully reduce how often I need to. Prefer the 10 minutes fortnightly to the hours it used to take when I did it less often.

    Keeping things -
    a) sleeping bags/camping mats - under the bed & in loft, one sleep bag we use for guests in bottom wardrobe in vacuum bag
    b) DH's collection of car magazines (now about twice the size of those ironing mountains...) bought A BOX said you can keep howver many fit in there, if you can't suggest somewhere else to keep the rest the are being recycled, need to have words soon as box is starting to overflow
    c) board games that the children have no room for in their rooms anywhere if I want to keep them, usually on tops of wardrobes, also bought shelving for their rooms
d)bags of soft toys they can't bear to part with, but don't have room for vacuum sack, then when they forget they are there they go to charity shop/school fayre, do get the comments at school fayre of 'Is that mine?' so charity shop sometimes better
One day I might be more organised...........
