 Solwaykid you just reminded me. When I was living in a flat we had I walked into the sitting room one night after hearing the door go and there was a man asleep on MY sofa. Previous tenant had given this man a key to let himself in whenever he needed somewhere to stay as he was in the army. I couldn't believe it. I was so shocked I shouted/screamed at this drunk man, he gave me the key and I rang the landlord to change the locks as this man said there was loads of people with keys!!!
LJD1, thanks, I know it's the right thing to do, Holly is everything she wants from a dog and Holly will love the attention she will get, wondering why I didn't think of it before, but I'm a soft **** and I'll cry anyway. I cried when we left the rescue today as there was a VERY poorly dog came in which looked like he wouldn't make itOne day I might be more organised...........

Crikey! I'd have freaked if I'd been in on my own! Doesn't bear thinking about how many people must have keys to all the short term lets I've had but then I think I've probably still got keys for some places.. week end to Stratford on Avon or an overnighter in Worcester anyone??:rotfl:
It takes me so long to type a post that I'm several tales behind.. Holly will love it and at least if the boys miss her you can visit, it must be like dog swap in your house with the old one returning home too!One debt v 100 days Part 14 £400/£400

Had an excellent week last week flyingwise. Actually made it to level three, even if not completed entirely every day.:j Just as well because this week is not looking good. Have been to meeting tonight (town hall, unions, councillors .. do these people have no lives to lead??), tomorrow is training for my governing body (who need, you'll remember training to turn up to meetings) and then on Thursday a late night at school as it's the induction meeting for new parents. So my only evening in is Wednesday when I think I might be sleeping rather than flying. So a little flutter around level one this week, I think.
Love to all the itchy people. I'll be doing the nit talk to the new parents on Thursday ... they all scratch within moments of hearing the dreaded word.
And love to all the stressed out mummies too. I know you're all doing a brilliant job, and it IS the hardest job in the world.
HAHWMB .. how did the visit from the nurse go?0 -
Hey everyone,
I take a few days off for studying, and what do you all do? Go and buy shoes without me! Huh! I did buy a pretty pair of wedgies with flowers on a couple of weeks ago, mainly so I can show off my toe rings, trouble is I so rarely wear heels that I find it difficult to walk in them. Mostly wear my trusty Clarks Springers, which makes me really sad as I LOVE pretty shoes.
Lovely to see the baby pics too Maralum, making me broody too. Perhaps OH and I can manage a third once we've moved and done some work to the new place.
Here's a story that might make those with hormonal boys feel a little better...
DD (3) has been asking LOTS of questions about babies just lately, and last week I found her on her bedroom floor having a good peer around at her nether regions. When asked "Is this the hole that the baby comes out of?", I casually replied "Yes it is darling, but don't worry it will get bigger as you grow up and it stretches too". I didn't expect to be having that conversation for another 5 or 6 years! OH was shaving in the bathroom which is next to her room was so startled by the conversation he almost slit his throat! Still, one friend has a DD who was asking similar questions, so friend got a hand mirror out and showed her all the bits and named them for her. Her DD was so revolted by it all that she's stopped asking questions! (Mine would just demand more and more details!)
Now off to clean cooker and washing machine drawer and sling kids toys into boxes so that I can see the living room floor to hoover it tomorrow. We've also had the dreaded fleas this week, it must be time to put FrontLine on the cat again.
Love,
MermaidYou only get one go at life, so grab it where it hurts, shake it hard and get everything out of it you can!0 -
Hehehehehe this thread is wayyyyyyyyy better than any soap on TV
dog swops, slit throats, naughty kids, nits, spare keys the list goes on! :rotfl:
Well done lil_me re Holly, can't have been an easy decision, can't think of many that would do what you have decided (HUGS)
As regards the spare keys I did give out a couple to my old place and thought if I was buying it (when I sold it if that makes sense) the first thing I would do would be to swop the locks round on the doors (same type) as a minimum. We bought this place brand new so no other keys to worry about. My neighbour has had so many spare sets cut (cleaner, gardener, BF, friend, us) :eek:Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -
I appear to be grounded. I have really bad RSI in my right wrist. I blame it on spending too much time on the laptop, I have one of those natural keyboards for a reason. Just about managed to do most of the kitchen before it got too painful. I'm normally so good about these sorts of things, my job involves using a computer all day that I need to be careful, I know too many programmers and IT people who have had to find new careers because of RSI related injuries.
I'm currently playing with Remember the Milk website, it basically works as a task list, but being online means I can get to it where ever I am, which is useful for me as I'm forever writing on the back of my hand / emailing myself to remind me to do something. I've tried about 5 different calendar / organiser things now, and I'm still to find one I like, though this one is looking hopeful.

Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
I've just done the maths, and if I pay into a savings account the amount I was paying on the car finance, both my July and October bonus (have to ensure I get that then), plus the £20 I've cut back from paying into my Christmas and Birthday savings accounts, then I should have enough to pay back my mum at Christmas. Ok it does help that my dec wages get paid on Christmas Eve and not at the end of the month, as I need some of that months wages to make the last bit.
Now all I need to do is find a way to make the money that's needed to finish off the house. Obviously time to list some more stuff for sale online.Debts: Mum £3923 0% APR0 -
well i woke a bit, and got a bit further
lil-me sounds like a good decision with Holly on so many levels.
becca made me laugh there. DH has gone to my parents old house instead of their new house before, and he only ever went there a couple of times as they moved when we hadn't been together long - amazing what sticks in your head

Anyway, i was ahead cos we had done most of the jobs, but then me and DH were playing on BUZZ which he got for his birthday last september and we had never tried yet. We said on hols that we would make effort to do things that didn't involve just passively sitting in front of the TV. Not much better but DH was happy cos he beat me x2, whereas the music one i won every game we ever played on it.
Off to play list writing.
