I did say I thought it was harsh for a first time.

    TorryQuine,
I understand where you are coming from and l will not be using said email system for personal use again. It is not worth the grief.
I hope they will accept an apology as after all l have a clean record so far.

On a side note - l see in your signature you quoted from Diana Gabaldon's book Fiery Cross. She's one of my favourite authors.
At least we agree on something lol!

I hope they do accept your apology.

Can't wait for the series of Outlander!

Lets just for a moment in the interest of "perspective" replace the word "email" with "bog-roll".

    1) Your company has suspended you on full pay for misuse of the company bog-roll facilities.

    2) The company provides all employees with bog-roll and has a policy in place as to its use, you say that you only used the bog-roll sparingly during your break with your partner.

    3) How can excessive use of bog-roll be measured? Is the company monitoring the other employees use of bog-roll? Does the use of your personal bog-roll cause distraction or offence to other bog-rollers?

    4) The company needs to have a fair policy as to what amount of personal bog-roll use is acceptable if any and cannot simply make an example of you because they caught you.

    See how stupid that sounds?

A few personal emails (excluding offensive, derogatory content) should be allowed.

It doesn't cost the company money to send an email but it does to provide toilet paper, water, heating, lighting etc. yet they have no policy to their misuse? These utilities are misused more than any in UK offices and cost the company a lot more money than sending an email. Unless your not doing your required duties as the company sets out in your work time and sending personal emails, fair enough.

Sounds like someone doesn't like you there and wants you out. Maybe for cost saving or to get an acquaintance into your job???

I would be using this time to set up a plan B with employment and try to get an interview.

    Hi
Lol...thanks for the laugh...that really outs it in perspective of how ridiculous it all sounds.

I agree that someone wants me out, or its an exercise to gain glory, or someone lined up to fill my post.. thismis a possibility as cost cutting but wouldnt make sense as l have a lot of knowledge which would take a even a relative newbie a long time to learn.

But l dont suppose management care about that as lomg as theybsave money.

I liked your points about mis use of electricity etc. This is a bug bear of mine at work. People constantly leave lights on in unoccipied rooms and your right, nothing is ever said. I once mentioned this to a manager and was told " I've more to worry about that lights left on and electricity bills!"

I didn't mention utility wastage again. In that context, this amount of grief for sending a few personal emails seems silly.

    Just googled it...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outlander_(TV_series)

Hmmm....not familiar with the guy they've cast as Jamie but he looks ok. I always thought it had Gerard Butler written all over it but they've left it too long and he's too old now (EDIT: to play Jamie I mean, not too old full stop, just in case he happens to be reading this ;) )

    Hi
I couldn't say if other staff are using it too but would guess they are. My thoughts are its the temp manager whos trying to gain brownie points..

At the moment I've just returned they edited minutes and am watching how thry are proceeding because so far they dont seem to know their own policies.

Am l right in thinking that the accuser cant be the same person carryinf out thr investigation, do you know?

    Re above.

Unless you work for a sole trader organisation it would be bad practice for the accuser to conduct the investigation.

More importantly, and along similar lines, it would be particularly bad practice for the same person who carries out the investigation to subsequently carry out (chair) a disciplinary (if any). Even if they did, tactically may be best to stay stum as it could be an(other) angle to ultimately catch them out on.

And BTW have you stopped ruminating ?

    Hi
Yes I'll be observing and reporting here but keeping quiet otherwise.

Well..TorryQuine and l found we had a common interest, so that distracted me for a little while. No more ruminating tonight, I'm off to bed now.

Thanks guys for all your support.
