Barclaycard AP removal [successful]

    Is it just me that has had no help from Barclaycard in the same circumstances then? They have said that my account has been reported correctly with AP marker for about 3 years in total never giving me a default.

    Have you called them? Or written to them?

    I've found earlier communication with Capital One stated that the markers were factually correct, despite the original post on here (and subsequent stories where people have had them removed.)

    Did you use a Debt Management programme when you set up a repayment plan? Or did you negotiate it yourself?

    I asked Barclaycard today to remove my AP markers from 2011 but they refused, as they said it was a correct situation that I have been in an arrangement to pay and i never actually defaulted. They also pointed out that an AP is far better than having a default as it shows that you have made an effort to repay the debt and any future creditors will also look an application for credit more favorably than if i had a default

    Right up until the point the default would drop off....they talk rubbish. You complained to FOS?

    Anything to wriggle out of agreeing to remove the markers...

    If that's the case, then, my typical APRs wouldn't be over 20% :rotfl:

    I used the template letter and then they called me the next day and said tough. Then I said I want to escalate it as I am not happy. Then they called me 2 days later and again said its correct and they will not be doing anything further and that their final word so I got them to give me their final written response which I now have.

    This is the same kinda rubbish that I was getting. The kept saying in retrospect yes I am worse off but they can't do anything. Kept quoting the ICO guidelines back to me and twisting them against me.

    I would consider contacting the Financial Ombudsman then.

    Irrespective of it being "correct" (in the fact that you arranged a payment in agreement with the creditor) that case that after six months we should've given a default proves they are being awkward.

    That's the thing they say it was a short term arrangement for 6 months but when we got to the end of those 6 months as I had not broke the agreement they let it run for a further 6 months.

    This short term arrangement went on for almost 4 years!!!!

    I'd definitely escalate it to the FOS then. At the end of the day by committing to pay a nominal amount rather than a default means in our cases we did try to meet the repayments (even if it was lower than the requested amount per month.)

    Capital One have finally removed the account from my Experian and Equifax reports after initially complaining in March 2014; today I was accepted for a Lloyds Choice MasterCard/American Express.
