I need to grow some balls.
I am running around trying to make this happen on site but I am aware how I am coming across. As a scaredy cat.
I know true bravery is doing things when you are afraid.
But these people must be sensing that when I say that ladder mustn't be used or we need to sort this out I am shaking!! My voice is nearly breaking up LOL.
I am surrounded by confident smart aggressive people and I am like a little boy. I am doing what has to be done but I wish I was coming over better.
Maybe I'm not cut out for this job. It is a series of confrontations and I'm not like that. When I have the confidence to know I'm right then I'll be ok. But that will take years. This is a hard job to do when you are starting off.
Sorry, I just needed to blab (or maybe blub)

It won't, even though it feels like it at the moment. I started my current job six months ago, and at first I felt the same. Theres all this pressure to sell this that and the other to customers, but when it came to doing it I would fluff my words and sound like I was about to cry (that was when I was speaking loud enough for them to hear me). But now, I won't lie and say its natural, but I can come across as confident to pull it off.
This probably doesn't help a lot, but just wanted to say you can do it if I can...

Health and Safety in the Construction Industry.
I'm bigger than they are (and everyone except Miro) but they are big gruff construction managers and I'm this big softie LOL.
They hate my role anyway (I expected that) but until I really know how to pitch my level of critisism I am always running the risk of being too picky or unrealistic.
I guess I brought this on myself xxGirls are gonna love the way I toss my hair. Boys are gonna hate the way I seem.

It's a tough job but if it wasn't for guys n gals like you the construction industry would be getting away with murder. They would be able to do as they pleased without a care for their workers and when accidents happen they would just shrug their shoulders - with H&S looking over their shoulders then they can't do that.
Always wearing a hard hat and steel toe capped boots is always a necessity on construction sites and if folks don't wear the safety equipment that they are provided with then they don't work - simple as really. As for the other stuff, then remember this is a new job and you will learn to pitch correctly (your employer must have thought you were good otherwise you wouldn't have got the job). Perhaps you could ask your H&S colleagues how to pitch, I am sure if you explain then they'll give you some tips. To be honest being overzealous is better than letting them get away with things. Don't let the gruff construction guys walk all over you, yes you can be a softie at times but there are other times when you need to be firm, that way you will earn respect and they will realise that you are not a person to be messed with. They should remember that Health & Safety is important.
Good luck and I hope this pep talk helps?0 -

I feel ick today.
Last night, this guy I don't like came over. I dunno if I've ever mentioned it, but it's a pretty big reason for not liking someone. He had some beer and gave me a can, and I'm scared of him so I felt I had to drink it even though I hate beer.
So then we were in the living room watching TV and stuff. I dunno, somehow about 2 hours passed
And then he had this great idea of driving over to his house. I said I didn't want to, but he kept asking so I gave in. And probably the less said about the drive there the better. Then at his house he gave me a tour and some vodka, and pretty soon we went back to mine.
And I won't allow people to smoke in my house but he wouldn't go outside, so somehow we ended up smoking weed up the loft. And then he spilt beer all over my kitchen floor because he was so wasted. I was a bit, but not as bad. It was getting late and I was so scared he was coming onto me (but I dunno if I was imagining it) so I made him go home.
And now I feel bad because he wasn't in a fit state to drive. But it was either that or let him stay over, and that woulda been worse.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
