Does anyone know anything about SADS? :(

Sads yes as already said by other posters, seasonal afected disorder syndrome.

Has a lot to do with the shorter day of winter, and the lack of sunlight.

I'm sure that the fact that we spend so much of the short days indoors plays a big part also.

For me the crap weather does not help either.

Try searching on the internet for it.

There are possibly some forums for depression and related topics, search for depression forums.

Cheers PM me if need some help

    Hi rbk!:hello:
I hope you're feeling a little better this morning hunnie. I'm just going to dive in here...

    [quote=razorbladekisses
Hi everyone. Unfortunately the meeting today didn't go so well. I have been suspended on medical grounds. I am extrememly upset. I went straight to see my social worker who has arranged an appointment with my psychiatrist and herself on Friday morning. I then went to see my GP (second time today). My social worker and GP aren't quite sure that what my work are doing is actually allowed. My Doctor and social worker both think me working is the best option. However, work obviously disagree.
As I'm sure you know angel, this is a minefield of technicalities. Well done you for not just caving in and for going to see your professionals for support!action-smiley-033.gifI know how upset you must have been rbk.sLo_hug2.gif

I've done some research for you and also been down into the Tiff archives sweetie and I'm also pretty sure that I'd agree with your professionals, what they're doing isn't actually allowed. I'd need to know more about your job position and contract but basically, I believe that your manager is guilty of bullying, and maybe even harrassment. They seem to have violated your privacy as well as humiliating you.
Here is a brief definition from this site...
    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Employees/DiscriminationAtWork/DG_10026670
''Bullying includes abuse, physical or verbal violence, humiliation and undermining someones confidence.''

I'm not a professional angel and so you really need to visit CAB for advice. Here are some website links...
    - CAB - http://www.adviceguide.org.uk,
    - MIND - http://www.mind.org.uk
    - ACAS - www.acas.org.uk

Here are some direct links to information that may be useful. I can't vouch for them personally hunnie but they are reputable sources.

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/RightsAndResponsibilities/DG_10028507

    http://www.acas.org.uk/

    http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/life/employment/dealing_with_grievances.htm

The first thing I'd suggest, after visiting CAB, is to write a formal complaint letter - feel free to use the one I posted yesterday as a starting point and expand upon it with the details. Hold on to it and show it to your psychiatrist and social worker tomorrow. I'd also print off your posts to show them what was happening angel. If they agree, make a copy of the letter and post it to your manager's boss - not the manager herself.
From now on hun, keep a diary of all contact and conversations with work - who said what, when, where and at what time. This will help to support your case if you take it further.

If I can get a healthcare professional to say in a letter that I can work unsupervised, work in a dispensary and work dispensing medication then I can return to work sraight away. However, my social worker doesn't think work can ask for information in this manner and needless to say my Doctor wouldn't/couldn't write a letter. So it looks as though I will have to wait to go through the process of work refering me to a Doctor and them saying if I'm OK to work. Area manager thought that I'd get an appointment in about 10 days
    *sigh* what a crap day!
Apparently I have the Crisis team visiting me later this evening./quote
I'm glad the crisis team are going to visit you hun - this is all really stressful for you and you need all the support you can get.wink.gif
Your psychiatrist should be happy to give a letter saying you are well enough to work. This will carry more weight than your dr as he is your specialist - and if anyone has the right to make the decision about whether you're fit enough to work, it's him/her! That is their job and they know you better than any company doctor would. It's good to know that your professionals are supporting you sweetheart - it can make all the difference.
I hope some of this has been helpful hunnie - thinking of you.sLo_hug2.gif

It's even blooming worse the further north you live - you have one hour less daylight in central Scotland, compared to Bournemouth, in December. I really noticed it when I first came up here.

If find when it snows, it is better as the light reflects off it. But these grey days are obscene, there should be a law against them, for crimes against humanity and mental health (I blame Gordon Brown myself):D

I kept trying to hint at a Caribbean holiday this year but it is dark at 6pm there:D

Good luck, I find humming along to the radio helps keep my mind off anything whilst I'm in the chair, much to my old dentist's amusement. They played, 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life'. I also clutch my turquoise crystal.

My head is saying he's only trying to cheer me up, but all I want him to do is leave me alone!!!! Although woe betide if I say that, because then he gets in a bad mood and starts snipeing at me which makes me worse.

They just don't get the hint do they and yes mine does that too - they want to fix it. Time out alone really helps. You need to talk to him when your feeling OK and tell him you think he is great but you need time out and it's no reflection on him. Otherwise, get away from him properly, you need to do it your way.

Thanks everyone for the welcome, look forward to getting to know you all.

You can't have too many cats, they are amazing creatures. I spent an evening cuddling my son's cat last night and felt really happy.
