  • Efficacy Overstated for Antidepressants

It's worth listening to the audio report as it's interesting to hear what the Dr who did the research has to say about it.

There is so much money involved in new drugs that it isn't surprising that either the results are enhanced or only the most encouraging results are submitted for publication.

The suggestions made at the end of the audio sound reasonable to me.

We have to bear in mind when considering research for those vitamins that can be obtained naturally or extremely cheaply because they are not patentable and there is no commercial benefit from encouraging their use that the bias may be the other way and the beneficial effects understated to protect the pharmaceutical industry's financial interests.

I can believe this, drug companies are big business aren't they.

I know form my own experience antidepressants aren't always as good as the doctors say/think they are. Everything I have been given has just made the feelings either worse or not caused any change other than nasty side effects. But for some people they are very effective-my mother for one can barely function without hers.

I can't get the audio to work, so I don't know what else is said there though.

  • Miss tbc, I honestly have no idea what to say to you - do you see a counsellor? I hope someone else comes along who can offer you more advice, but take care. xx

Thanks for your response we are going to see a counsellor i feel devestated although i have suspected this for a long time its hard to acknowledge i just hope he may have not realised what he has been doing, maybe his upbringing didnt allow him to have emotions and in mine my emotional needs were not met so i have desperately been loooking for this in my marriage.

rbk.....am sure i saw somthing on gmtv the other week about a girl who SHd and wondered if the stuff was still on their website. www.gmtv. but dont know if address is right.maybe you could take a look as their site is pretty good.she was trying to help others with advice and stratagies so hope its some good to you.
forgot to say about charlie at vets last week.went about the cyst on his leg.dh thought would be about £80 to remove, which i thought for a vets charges was goona be v.optimistic.lady vet was lovely but said it would cost £240:eek: .then when she examined him, she found he had a heart murmur  so said that if the cyst wasnt bothering him then to leave it cos the op would be iffy due to the heart prob, so the good news is:D cos ive had him on a diet, think hes lost a good 2 stone, thats helped him.just a shame i cant lose the same.
dhs started slimming world but tbh i cant find the motivation to diet and just want to do the opposite:o
btw, did you hear about leslie ashs 5million payout.was so:mad: ,loss of carreer my rear!!!she did that without the superbug when she had trout pout plastic surgery....and got the injuries from her oh.i feel sorry for all the normal ppl whose lives have been destroyed cos of the bug, who havent got the dosh or the celeb status to fight. in the end we all lose out cos the money is taken from the nhs.....
and they were on about the cost of tabs from gps and to try to economise....what about all the free prescriptions for wales and scotland soon.mps in a mag were telling everyone to get a second residence in scotland so that thy could get free dental checkups and soon to be free prescriptions in scotland.apparantly you just have to live there for a short time in the year,a week or two:eek: and you qualify.the whole thing stinks:mad:
    right, who got me started:rotfl:
take care all,im going now to put the world to rights:D
    love ilgd xx
People bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with :)

    LOVE ME, LOVE MY NEWFOUNDLAND.:A

slowlyfading (((HUGS))) Sorry to hear you've cut more :( This might be a silly question but do you feel like it helps? Make sure you look after your wounds hun.

The stupid thing is, I don't know if it does help or not. I feel like I have to do it, so I do. And, :o I like how it looks afterwards. Which I know is stupid and pathetic. how are you today? xx

Girl, Interruped is a lovely dvd, though it can be triggering (one of the girls in it self harms) but I love it and it used to be my favourite dvd for a long time! and yay, free is always good :) hope you're having a good day katie. xx

I preferred the book to the film, although the film is good too.
