Just asked Shaz - unfortunately if I want a different counsellor then it is back to the waiting list for me, I can't face up to another year of this so I don't know.
Got my new pills today and she advised to stick with counsellor for moment as will prob have a very hard week. :(

Hi everyone. It's only 9.30am and the day's already c**p. OH woke me up first thing telling me someone's broken into our garage. Later realised ES may have left the door open last night and the wind's caught it, breaking the frame and bending the door. OH isn't happy!

Tried so hard to get 15 year old DS up for school this morning but just ended up making him cry (he has depression too). If only there was someone who could help me, someone who could tell me what to do. I feel like I've failed again - failed to get him to school and failed to go to work myself. OH was less than useless once again. He made comments implying I wasn't trying hard enough to get DS up and off to school, but when he tried for all of 2 minutes, he gave up and said Ds would be staying home today!

Tried to get appointment with GP as I just feel like I can't cope with all this and needed someone to talk to today, but she's not in until tomorrow. Didn't want to see another one as I'd just have to explain the whole sorry situation and don't feel up to that.

Now I'm waiting to hear the key in the door as my parents arrive on the off chance I might be off work today  I can't face sitting here listening to my mother moan about how ill she feels and talking about 'him' all the time.

God, I just want to take myself away from all this.

katie, have a good day with your friends, sounds like fun.
qwb, booking a holiday is positive something to look forward to. been looking at holiday brochures myself, only for this country tho, never been abroad, wouldnt fancy taking sons to a foreign place, god knows how they would behave.
right, i'm off again, had my guitar lesson for half hour this morn which was fun, now i'm off for an aromatherapy massage, nice and relaxing,

    I don't know.
I don't know where to find out about that kind of thing.
Don't suppose I would dare go anyway as I wouldn't know anyone.

    Thanks Shaz.

My sons sees someone at CAMHS. My son's talked about wanting to die in the past but hasn't mentioned it recently. I just don't know how much pressure I should put on him, or not. His counsellor said it's better if he goes to school, but he's not the one here trying to get him up! I rang the school this morning about the work he's missing and they're going to see if they can sort out some work for him to do at home. Not sure how he'll feel about that.

I try really hard not to let him see me upset or depressed because he also suffers from anxiety and worries himself silly about things like that. I don't want him to start hiding it from me. We're as bad as each other really.

  • I have man flu, been gettin worse all w/end but now its fully blown man flu:D

    .................................Man flu

A rare strain of flu so powerful and so deadly it can only be matched by the Bubonic Plague and Aids. A incurable virus which has adapted to only effect the "XY" gene found in men.

The virus attacks the immune system 10,000 times harder than the average flu virus, causing excruciating pain for the victim. Man Flu has no cure and prayers can save the forsaken life of the infected. The often deadly virus is mostly laughed at by women who sadly cannot contract "Man Flu"
    Woman: Is he ok?

Doctor: I'm afraid not, I'm sad to say he has Man Flu

    ..............................man flu

The condition shared by all males wherein a common illness (usually a mild cold) is presented by the patient as life-threatening.

This is also known as 'Fishing for Sympathy' or 'Chronic Exaggeration'.

When the patient is your boyfriend, he will exhibit the standard symptoms (such as an overwhelming desire for compassion) while simultaneously rejecting any and all efforts you make to placate him.
    You: Awww, you poor fella.
    Him: I'm DYING!
You: (Soothingly) Oh, you're not dying Cy.
Him: (Indignant) I AM! I have Man Flu!
You: Do you need some sympathy?
Him: Yes! But no one understands my pain...
    You: I understa-
    Him: NO YOU DO NOT!!!

  • Hi Dawnylou

Sorry things are so hard for you atm. My psychologist used to make me do things like talk to empty chairs (pretending certain people were sitting in them). It's so uncomfortable doing things like that. She had me doing some pretty weird stuff. Some of it was brilliant, other stuff was horrible and embarrassing. It did help though, in the long run, so I'd defo stick with it a bit longer and see how it goes. Are you able to tell him how he makes you feel? Maybe not actually mention the nasal thing though! But you could tell him about the feelings he evokes in you.

I always take tissues with me, even if they do have a box there, as I never feel comfortable using theirs. I also bring the used ones home with me as I feel bad putting them in their bin :o

My counsellor however, doesn't do stuff like that, she just listens, reflects back and sometimes suggests things I could try, which is much better.

Counselling/psychotherapy sessions are always very draining. You face stuff that the rest of the time hides deep inside. Letting it all go, and (if you're anything like me) sobbing your heart out, really takes it out of you. Allow yourself a little time to recover afterwards, you deserve it after all that hard work.
