sometimes when i get a down day i feel like this
and sometimes when i get a good day i feel like this :j
but most days i feel like this
why is depression so complicated
when every day i just want to feel like this :rotfl:
and when people say just pull yourself together don t you find it makes you feel like this
then you want to eat :EasterBun
which makes you feel happy :j for a while
and thenagain
Hi santashelper!:hello:
I think you've summed up very well not just mental ill health, but life in general.
I think it's important to remember that. We can blame our health for a lot of things but we should remember that people don't bounce around with happiness continuously and that sometimes it's Life that sucks!;)
:hello: to everyone who suffers with depression like me if only everyone could understand its not something you want its something that you dont want it just choses its victims and creeps up on you when you least expect it
I know hun. Mental ill health is a cruel illness and there is no rule of thumb for it either. Eg. broken limb=6 weeks etc.
What you're doing is very good angel - it shows you have good insight into the situation. That's an important step.
i have suffered for 4 years after having a nervous breakdown and am still struggling with energy levels and anxiety i know i am better than i was
This is where you should have put the full stop hun.We talk to ourselves so harshly. Keeping positive statements separate from negative ones reinforces them and makes them stonger.
but frustrated that this thing is like having an invisible disability which is so frustrating to have when people who have not had it think you can just snap your fingers and be better again cos that sought of attitude just makes me feel
again/quote
Any long term illness is hard angel. You have done so well and are obviously a survivor. Surviving is hard work, I know hun.
Try and remind yourself that you've come so far in four years and that you can progress further. Feel proud of your achievements sweetheart!:T
And rightly so hun - you should feel upset with people who are so dismissive of your health!:o Sit them down and tell them everything you have to go through in a week. Remind them that it unbalances the chemicals in your brain and that's why you're not skipping along like bloody Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz! Sometimes we have to explain just what it's like for us. (ooops - sorry for the swearing!)
The only way people will feel any different about mental ill health is when they experience it or they no someone that has. Sadly, this is becoming more and more common so people are starting to learn through experience.
I really do think that the attitude to mental ill health should be the same as it is to any other illness, like diabetes for example. We are just as guilty of putting ourselves down for having mental ill health - we're so hard on ourselves, which only makes things worse.:o Our self-esteem just vanishes.
We do get frustrated with our mental health problems, especially if they're long term ones. We don't want to feel the way we do, didn't ask for this, can't understand why we can't just think ourselves instantly better. It's scary to think that you can't necessarily control your thoughts and mood.
But, we are a very adaptable animal hun.;)
I'm willing to bet that 4 years ago, you would not have been able to see yourself as you are today, that some goals seemed impossible to reach. That's certainly true of me. Yet somehow we do get there in the end, no matter how long it takes.:T
If we could take away the worrying of what other people are thinking, the trying to understand all the why's, the harsh way we talk to ourselves, that would make dealing with our illnesses easier.
And yes, it's easier said than done I know.;)
I'm just thankful that we're not living in the 19th century or earlier - can you imagine how we'd have been treated then?!
And of course, there wasn't a Tiff around then either!:D
(No sazzy - I am not that old! :rotfl: )
Yet guys, there are some wonderful people out there who won't judge you - and we don't talk about them enough. When Tiffy was but a kitten.....oops, time to shut up!:D
I hope you'll hang in there hun. Never give up on yourself angel - you're precious, as is everyone else.
Much Love,
Tiff xxx
