No buying unnecessary toiletries March 2014

Evening all, I have a sudden, unbelievably strong urge to get EVERYTHING out of gift sets so I can see what I have, I mean I have a list but it's not enough, am I mad?
I always try to resist the urge to do that. I do try to give some of these sets as presents. However, I don't do it with the really large sets that I got in Boots 75% off sales usually. I don't want people to think I have been ridiculously generous and then feel the need to return the favour - especially if they buy me toiletries for my birthday in return!
However, at Xmas I gave a lovely hanging toiletry bag that I'd bought in Boots when it was reduced to a ridiculously cheap price. It didn't come with any products so I took a couple of Ted Baker items out of one of the sets and made the present up with that.
I know that once I open the boxes I will end up using the items myself or forgetting whether they've been used and I therefore won't be able to gift them.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

Was in Tesco earlier and there are a couple of magazines with freebies this month.
Marie Claire - Neal's Yard lip gloss
I gave it a miss as I didn't think the colour would suit me.
Mag £3.90 I think.

Glamour - Model Co mascara/eye liner/lip liner or lip gloss available in 2 shades.
Think mag is £2 but don't quote me on that!
Our store didn't have any lip glosses and I didn't need another mascara, eye liner or lip liner so gave this a miss too. :A
I saw these too but did not succumb. :A I've not liked anything from Neals yard that I've tried in the past and really don't need any more lip gloss. Nor do I need any other make up full stop however if I saw a mag containing Benefit freebies I would probably buy.
Had a quick look on the Sephora website, thanks to whoever posted that they now ship to the UK. Couldn't see anything I wanted though :A
Me too. I didn't think the £10.00 flat shipping charge was such an incentive either.sweetcheeks33 wrote: »I'm going for shower now to use up my intensive conditioner
I am actually to scared to have to actually write everything down- it's in 3 rooms!!! That is bad!
Welcome sweetcheeks and other newbies. Sweetcheeks you don't have to make a list if you don't want. Just getting all your products together in one place and being aware of how much you have and to then start tackling using them is enough. Although we all like noseying at lists!
I've had a shower this morning and used some of the Philip Kingsley Elasticiser that's been lurking there for ever. Seems a real faff though to have to wet my hair to apply it and leave. So I applied this whilst cleaning the bathroom and then showered it off later.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. satisfying getting all the rubbish out too!!
I have done this today too. Had two gift sets that I was given as Christmas presents out of which I have already taken the fragrances. Gave my wardrobe a serious declutter as I can't find either my Clinique Watermelon lipstick or my manicure kit. Still not found either.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I have a flurry of UUs already:-
Lush Lip Scrub - was on my PP list too - I did cheat a little with this today. I used it last night when I was in the bath and managed to get water in it. Decided I'd better get it all UUed today due to this and ended up rubbing it into my cuticles as well. Can't say that it's done a thing for either my lips or cuticles. WDNBA.
Aussie Conditioner - another on PP list. WDBA. Do like this range. Have one ready to replace this.
Aussie Shampoo - WDBA - Have one ready to replace this.
Bath and Body Works White Citrus shower gel. Very nice. Can't buy again as it came from the US.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Oh wow this thread makes me feel lots better about my health and beauty stashing..! I might have to join in too
I have additional reasoning to need to destash now too. I finished uni in Jan and have landed a graduate job in store at Boots from September, so guess where all my salary is going to be going! :rotfl:
I will go through the wardrobe and get doing my list later. I don't think I'm going to venture into the Lush hatboxes stashed of products, they can just stay there forever
This thread has got me do excited :rotfl: :j0 -
sam.4000 - wow, that is some stash, it must be taking up a lot of room, where do you store it all? I too have huge amounts and am fed up of the space it is taking up.
Everywhere really. I have a 12 draw unit in my room which contains soap, bubble bars, scrubs, whips, body lotions.
A basket on top hold most of my perfumes.
A box under stool which contains lush pot/ bottle products
A big box under bed that has deodorant, hair products, bath and body products
3 hat boxes in spare room for bath bombs/ ballistics
5 other plastic boxes which contain face stuff and overspill lush products
a shelf in cupboard hold shampoo and conditioner
I think thats it. Everything hides away in either cupboards/ under bed. I do not have hoard anything else really so its quite easy to manage.0 -
noelphobic - I thought you had made the mistake on purpose:rotfl:.
I find the roll ons more :money:and more effective but always keep a spray for when I don't have time to let it dry.
VALM - I have lost a can of Sure compressed deo, I have looked all over and I am sure I haven't used it up.
I agree with you about the Elasticizer, I use it at night, wet my hair, apply and wrap it in a turban, have a bath then leave it like that all night, I only leave it all night in winter as I get too warm in summer with the turban on. I do this a couple of times a week and use other hair masks the same way.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I need some advice. I have quite a few Nails Inc products. I find that they chip so easily. I asked the lady at the stand for advice and she said because I wasn't using the nails inc topcoat/base coat that is why they chip so easily. So I bought that but still have problems. I've been wearing nails inc for 24 hours and it has started to chip along the top of my nails. However, when I wore Barry m last weekend, this last 3 days before chipping! Does anyone else have this problem with nails inc? I feel that Barry M is much better and cheaper too!No buying unnecessary toiletries in 2014: currently counting hoard....numbers TBA0

2 ins (technically from last day in February but lets not split hairs :P)
1) Tesco everyday value shower gel - was umming and arrring about this decision because they had Original source on offer for £1 (my fave), but this one is 30p so I decided to give it a go and stop being such a brand snob. Its amazing that I buy smart price foods for basically everything I eat yet I don't think to go basic with toiletries.
2) Sort of related to the first purchase- tesco's body puff with the little sucker thing! Those on February's thread will remember the discussion on these :P Foaming up the cheapy shower gel nicely and also lovely that the puff is always where I left it in the shower rather than rolling around on the floor!Frugal Student!!!0
