So following on from the various Quorn discussions, I have added various Quorn sausages and burgers to my Tesco shop for next week. Didn't venture into the quorn mince as I really think it doesn't look nice but I am trying to be open minded. Wish me luck...

Was this mince in the frozen section? That's the one I tried last year that I thought was vile. Mince from the fresh section already looks like cooked meat (all brown and crumbly) - maybe you could try that because mince is such a big staple for a variety of dishes.

    Good luck.. :)

Kat - Good luck as well with the new job on Monday

LOL - Lois "1 colmans spag bol mix (yes, cheating I know!)" I always use the spag bol mix. Much nicer than anything I can throw together and there is always an Italian herb that I don't like in any of the others.

HELP!! Been dieting for over 2 months and spending 4 times a week in the gym.

I am a veggie too, but haven't lost any weight in that time, what am I doing wrong here? I actually feel like giving up the diet and exercise to be honest

When I go to the gym, I spend about 1hr 30 mins and I really work out, usually burning over 300 calories each visit.

I never go to the gym but 300 calories doesn’t sound a lot for an hour and half work out but it’s still more than I’d ever achieve :D

I caught sight of your second post and hope you come back to us. We really can help you between us but we’d need more information e.g. what you are eating on an average day and which, if any, plan you are following.

Jojilufc – sorry for the late wishes – hope everything went okay with your last exam and congrats on the fab weight loss.

Dellybelly – ((((((((Hugs))))))))))) You vent on here as much as you want. Your post several pages ago stuck a cord with me. I think my OH drinks too much – a litre and a half of wine every night but the flip side he thinks I am addicted to gaming. We are both right. *confession* The top two links in my start menu are for FFXI and WOW. Both online games I subscribe to each month and he is so adverse to any kind of gaming that he doesn’t realise how much these subs cost us! In fact I had to go into ‘all programs’ to find Word so that I could type my posts :D However, because there are no children to consider, we have agreed not to nag each other about these issues.

Lastly - welcome to any new people that posted recently  and I've crossed my toes for you honey. I would cross my fingers but, sorry, I need them to type with :D

That's it I think I'm caught up now. Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend

another great mince alternative is soya mince. You can get it in the tescos whole food section for 99p. A 500g bag makes 1.5kgs of soya mince as you have to add water and let it soak. It does taste very bland, but if you add a nice sauce or gravy with some herbs it tastes nice imo and is pretty filling :) Its also a great thing to keep in the larder for days when you realise you have no mince in :)

Went to gym this afternoon, forcing myself there.:o Had to drop Ds at xcape anyway so had to go past to get home:rotfl: Did actually enjoy workout once there but then called to get fruit and veg and saw some white chocolate and cranberry cookies on offer... as it was 4pm that was lunch:eek: loved every single one tho:rotfl: :rotfl:

Looks like tom is a day 1 for me, got one of those indian meal deals for our tea too..

Thanks for the recent recipes folks. Made the pasta bake yesterday and was very very nice. Did add (now avert your eyes Ajax) pepperoni to it too, which solved the OH's problem to WOT NO MEAT argument!!!

Got my database exam result, 92%! That's ECDL completed now, the other exams take 6 weeks to get results through.

the devil made me Hope you stuck with us. I have used the gym for a long time now. Up until a few months ago I was one of those in the mind that this gave me an excuse to eat more of the things I shouldnt...I got a very good programme from a trainer who showed me how to work out more effeciently in less time. Maybe you could have a word with one at your gym. I was told that if you just stick to the same things over and over your body gets used to it.

Hope every has a good weekend, weather here wet ( as usual now, just put my heating on for first time in weeks too:eek: )

Its a bit all or nothing with me tbh... still loads of flamen choccy up the stairs though, cant believe he bought so much knowing i dont want to be tempted and that he couldnt eat all of it in one weekend, its going to last him ages, meanwhile i keep think about it.

LilMissEmmylou my OH is like that too... he would buy 5 or 6 bars of chocolate and keep them in the fridge for ages too. The only way I can mentally stop myself from eating them is to repeatedly tell myself that they don't belong to me. I won't eat them unless my OH says it's ok and he's already been instructed to tell me no and that if I ask more than once he's to get rid of them - his choice how to do it. Works along the same lines as a bar of chocolate in a shop. It doesn't belong to you unless you've paid for it.

    Afternoon,
It doesn’t matter how many times I menu plan I never stick to it. OH eats his snap at work and isn’t hungry in the evening while I come home and I just laze. Then when I am hungry I go still go into ‘self destruck’ mode too often – and this is the biggest reason why I maintain too often.
    .

Erlqueen have you tried bulk cooking? Do you have a day off during the week where you can make your meals in advance? I''ve found that making double portions when I'm making chilli, spag bol, etc and putting half in the freezer is really useful for the nights when I'm so exhausted I can barely move never mind stand infront of the hob cooking. I also find that if I'm having potatoes and veg dinner, I try to peel the potatoes etc the night before so that all I have to do when I get home from work is to cook the potatoes & veg. It doesn't sound like much but it means most nights I have a healthy home cooked dinner within 30 minutes of coming home (tip - cut potatoes small and they cook faster)

    Evening all :hello:

I'm aware that a few people are a bit down at the moment - sorry to all who are struggling for whatever reason. I have a theory that the weather is damping down (sorry for the pun) our spirits - mine included.

With our weather I imagine most people look forward to the summer and though we all know that fine weather isn't guaranteed, we do expect some sunshine. There's been very little of that this year, apart from the premature summer we had in April and I know I could really do with an extended period of fine weather to lift my spirits, so I'm looking forward to going to Italy in September.

Suggs - don't let the newcomer ruffle your feathers, you're still the top man on this thread and we love you! :kisses:

Ajaz - :naughty: you're newly married and shouldn't be flirting with married ladies ;)

Delly - (((hugs))) I've sent you a PM

Erlqueen - I use frozen Quorn mince and it doesn't look or taste any different to the fresh variety IMO. Maybe they've changed it since you tried it?

Emmy - well done for having such will power. I'm just like you, in that a little chocolate just makes me want more, so I avoid eating any. Fortunately DH isn't a big fan of chocolate, his snack attacks are usually in the shape of peanuts or cheese and crackers, both of which I can resist quite easily.

Have a great Sunday everyone - I hope no-one is struggling with floods.

That sounds really nice, and as I'm not following SW anymore I could do that, so I might give it a go.
