Some quorn stuff is nice but I find other stuff to have a rather odd taste to it. I don't even think of it as fake meat, it's just quorn and will never be as good as meat to me! IMO the best veggie sausages are cauldron ones, they're almost meaty and really tasty but expensive
..... oooh, wish you hadn't said Cauldron. Their falafel is to die for... I'm off to syn it up
Lainie, if you ever want a full breakdown of vitamins etc on any quorn products, feel free to holler. I've usually got a pretty good selection of them in my freezer.
"Morning all" by the way0 -
Got on the scales this morning and I've lost 0.8lb, I'm a tad miffed as I didn't deviate from my path of dieting virtue only to find that I lost the same as last week when I'd had a meal out, still, I am nearing my ideal weight so it's to be expected and at least it's not a gain so...
petrichor - Your meal plan is making me hungry now lol why is there such interest in quorn , is it super slimming , i have just noticed it is mentioned alot , and what does dd stand for , is it something daughter !!! please help lol Lainie x
...Lainie I hope you had a good nights sleep. DD stands for darling daughter which she is, luckily for me, I realise just how lucky I am to have a daughter like her when I read of the problems that parents such as yourself have, the worst we ever do is argue and then it's never serious. Re the quorn thingy, I would prefer not to eat meat because of the hormones that are injected into the animals these days. I like meals that consist of pulses etc and after readiing here about the quorn here I thought that I'd give it a try so as to ring the changes a bit. Although I must admit that MrP is of the same opinion as katmad........get the stick out for I am a gluttonous beast!!
everyone...repeat after me.."chips for lunch, and curry for dinner, will never make me any thinner!" !!!...
...Re: the Quorn debate, I have only seen quorn as cooked by one of my previous mousemates as she used to make quorn mince tacos, and honestly the mince looked and smelt like dirt (so sorry ajax!) and she also used to buy supermarket own vege sausages etc that also looked repulsive. also, the ingredients list on the back scares me!
But....after paying close attention to this discussion I might be up for trying some of the more interesting varieties once i've inspected them in the shop.
It just kinda grosses me out that they are like 'fake meat', and i do so love real meat!!! ....K x
...MrP says that the thing that annoys him is why they make things lamb style etc (which I bought at the weekend). I've just looked at the package and can't see what makes it lamb style except that it's with a rosemary and mint coating and that they are vaguely cutlet shaped. Anyhow, I'm going to give them all a go and try and keep an open mind whilst doing it...
...ajax As our expert on all things quorny (pun intended :rotfl: ) I have a nice recipe for lamb and butter bean casserole, would it be possible to cut the quorn lamb things into chunks and use them in a similar way to fresh lamb, in other words will the chunks stay chunky or just dissolve?...
...:j Well done lambana :j unlike a very flippant...
...katmad (who perhaps thought that she'd got away with it) but you haven't so hereA very naughty peep

Morning all
(if some of this has already been said then tough!! Kidding, kidding – but this is being typed in word as I work through the posts :rotfl: )
Not sure about all this talk of Quorn. I did recently try the Shepherds’ pie and thought it was very nice ergo was probably the most expensive (sin wise) on SW. All I remember is years ago trying to make bolognase (sp) sauce with it and it was absolutely VILE!!!! Put me off for life for making into meals  After saying that – just caught up with some more of the thread and have printed off the sausage and bean pie – thanks Ajax
Kat – meant to mention this last week – anything to need to know the syn value of just ask in here. As Ajax mentions there are a few of us here with the passwords to the site so we can find it out for you. In the back of the SW book are some blank pages where you can make your own notes – just stick the info down there for future reference. Oh and the lime in your vodka is a no-no. Try it with just soda and some fruit in there. I really, really didn’t fancy it but had a taste of my friends and was really surprised^^ Moneysaving involved here as I don’t feel like I’m buying two drinks which I usually do when I get a mixer.
BB – I have my graduation this Wednesday and yes, saying that does make me sound way younger than I actually am. Hope you and OH have a day to remember.
jojilufc – you probably gave in to a huge bout of ‘ohgodnotkenbatesagain-itus’ ((hugs)). Good luck with your exam
Congrats on the small weight loss Petrichor
I am feeling much, much better this week. Decided I really must have been ill last week – I’m not usually so down about not losing anything but thanks again for all the kind words. I’m going to SW tonight and will stay to class and smile past my grated teeth as I’m asked ‘are you having a problem? would you like to do a blah, blah… (sorry, I know, very derogetary (sp again^^ - my brain seems to still be asleep!) but I know what to expect – I’ve heard it all before).
Good luck to all who have yet to get weighed.0 -

Morning
Catch a quicky, spent some time catching up on the posts, not too sure what the mentions of my good self were for, but i will try and re-read them all later. echinacea terrorists????? 4 pints of Blood????
Busy weekend, Spent Saturday chilling with the papers, then 3 hours of filing and shredding paperwork :-( but Saturday night MrsSuggs and myself went to see Die Hard 4.0 (This time he means it!) Good film actually. No popcorn, but we did have a Chicken Kebab on the way homeSurely it cant be that bad? its grilled chicken, salad and a pitta. We didnt have dinner either.
Yesterday we attended a naming cemerony for one of OH nephews, only a 190mile round trip. I hit the buffet, salad and couple slices of ham and beef. And no cake! Got home for 7 and was in the gym for 7.45Did 20 min on the Bike (377 cals) and 22 mins Cross Trainer (442 Cals) Far too humid though.
Kyle, why no cook one yourself? If you dont fancy trying it from scratch, then what about a low fat sauce from the shop? or at least go to a tomato based curry, rather than cream and drop the pilau rice, I remember reading somewhere Takeaway Pilau rice can be twice the calories of plain boiled rice Try reading this and this it might help
Right back to this proposal for Network Admission Control I should be doing, but am currently suffering with writers block

Well done kyle :j :j Re your curry, does it have to be a takeaway? MrP likes them but due to the high amount of ghee used, I started to make my own, they are just as tasty but a lot more healthy. I still do a small naan (Tesco do tasty mini ones 172 cals for garlic and coriander) and poppadoms for him so that he feels that he's had the accompaniments. However if your OH wants the actual takeaway, then the links from Suggs do give good advice :T , simple things like draining off the excess ghee and choosing a tandoori etc. If you have the meal that you show, do you really need rice, naan AND chps? I would try and choose just one
...
...Hi Erlqueen I'm pleased that you're getting back to your perky self:j (we're used to a perky Erl here) these down times do seem to get to us when at other times the same things wouldn't bother us. I hope you enjoy your
this Wednesday  and good luck with SW tonight ...

Very sorry to report a 1/2 lb gain today:(
Think I need to go back to the drawing board and start off afresh.
The thing is I tend to get complecent (sp) and think I know what I am doing:o
Almost always end up proving I know nothing!!:o

hi all
I watched a program on bbc 1 , it was about food & drink and what it did to your body etc , i wish i could remeber the name of it , anyway they did testing to see if drinking lots of extra(over recommeded amount) water really did help, and they found it made no difference as most food is water based for example some fish i think were 80% water , potatos were 70% etc so the body takes any more water out of the food we eat.
Now for the other part , drinking water b4 a meal to stop you eating as much doesnt work either and acutally makes things worse (i was guilty of doing this) , what happens is when you drink the water it stretches the stomach as it fills and then drains straight away hence making you more hungry because the stomach has been stretched and so theres more to fill , but if you eat your meal whilst having drinks of water it becomes mixed together turning it into a thick soup like mixture which drips through hence keeping us fuller for longer.
But if drinking more water stops you drinking coffee tea or fizzy pop then thats a benefit too.
