Welcome Bykerlass.... are you planning to follow a club plan like Weightwatchers or slimming world or are you going it alone?

Petrichor did you get the menu planner/calorie counter?

    Hi Dellybelly

I am going it alone so far but if i find its not working I will join a club. Fingers crossed I can do it. Hope to join the gym next week. I have a neck problem which creates alot of problems with certain excercises but where there's a will ;) Went to aerobics on Monday night and though I did well I thought I have been in agony with my neck ever since so perhaps the gym will be easier as I can adapt the exercises to suit myself

Your'e the first one to say it believe it or not. Glad to hear you have the geordie in you. I now live in Lincolnshire left Newcastle in 1969 at 16 (bloody hell am I that old) Still visit ever year though. OH wants to retire there though he is a womble!
I have gradually put on the weight since giving up smoking some 20 years ago and of course "The Change" Soon as I gave up nursing following a physical assault some 8 years ago the weight has just kept creeping up. I have had a few surgical procedures on my neck to control the pain and at the moment am not too bad so need to get motivated. Hope you can all help

Bykerlass I can highly recommend yoga for your neck pain. A properly trained yoga therapist will be able to adjust the postures for you to allow for your neck pain. It really strengthens up your core muscles. I speak from personal experience. I sustained soft tissue damage to my lumbar spine when I was caught up in an explosion here in NI in 1998. I put on an awful lot of weight after it and it was only through yoga that I began to help myself physically and mentally. I blame not being able to get to yoga classes at the minute for my not being able to focus on my weightloss goals.

By the way, have you tried the calorie counting link on the first post? It seems really complicated but it's actually quite easy and because you're counting calories there are very few banned foods - it helps you control your portions and make better choices.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.
