WW is good if you need to control your overeating or can't stand living without bread (my big failing on SW was breakfast and lunches). The only other thing to consider is support for Mrs A. Would it make it easier for you both to be following the same plan? Why don't you try pointing what you do eat every day but still follow SW rules to see how much you're eating. ... setting up a new slimming club - Slimming Watchers!
........ lol I like thatI agree with you delly but I do like my bread and wine - should have been a miracle-performing saviour really
It would be difficult to see her open a bottle of wine and not be able to have one myself so SW could become very tough over the next few weeks0 -
ajax - WW Core Plan might be just what youre looking for! Works on a similar basis to SW, with all the free foods but you also get a weekly points allowance too!! I believe its 21 points a week you get which would allow you a few glasses of wine
Might be worth making enquiries with your wifes WW leader, Im not overly familiar with Core0 -
Ajax, I would echo what Dellybelly said - if SW is working for you then prob best stick to it. That said, I don't know how difficult that makes life if you and your wife are following different systems (I don't know how different SW/WW are). Being able to encourage and help each other and share the meal planning etc would be good.
Maybe you could experiment with one or the other for a couple of weeks? - if you're still losing and feel happy with what you're doing then great, if not then go back to what you were doing before, as you've obviously had a lot of success with that. Decisions, decisions!
Newstart - £148, that's insane but not surprising! Will check out that article, thanks. If only I could afford to save £148 for every pound I lose...
Which reminds me, I weighed for the first time this morning and I've lost 3 pounds in 3 days!! :rotfl:
Lilmiss - please read my earlier post about maintaining - it's only temporary I promise! You had a big loss in your first week so it's not surprising that you might have levelled out briefly. Also, I don't know how much you would like to lose but this will have an impact. Stick with it this week and I'm sure you'll have a loss next week. Don't forget, if you lose weight v quickly (1 pound a week is the ideal, despite what ww/sw may tell you), you are much more likely to put it back on (I used to know the statistics but they escape me these days!) So slow is GOOOOOOOD! (if bl**dy frustrating!)
Right, so I'll now be weighing myself each week on Wednesday (was desperate to get started on Sunday, hence the few days). I'm a bit concerned about this next week as I'm going to a wedding this weekend (managed to find myself TWO dresses I actually feel comfortable wearing with real ease this week, which is a major miracle I can tell you!!!! Now just have to decide which one to wear and take the other one back!). I'll be away from Thurs-Mon so food will be out of my hands (in terms of preparation) for most of that time . However, I'll do my best to stick to my GL stuff as much as possible, will take my muesli and snacks with me... and PRAY!
I know I've said this before but I can't express how much this thread is helping me - it's SO great to finally not have to struggle with this on my own and know there's support out there. So thankyou for being here! xxThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

I need to lose 33lbs overall and have already lost 2lb, but is probably just fluid retention rather than fat cos lost it very quickly.
By end of August I'd like to have lost 8lbs.

:j Lost 1.5lb in 2 days! Wahoo! doing a little dance! :j
My trousers feel looser already (could be imagining that though)Only two big facts are known for certain: you are on a large, spinning rock hurtling through lonely space at about 67,000 mph, and one day your body is going to die. Will a new pair of shoes really help?
