Problem with the RSPCA is they know jack about all animals that arent cats, dogs and rabbits. I work in the horse industry and they are notorious for attempting to prosecute owners with laminitic horses who are restricting their grazing, under the accusation that they are being starved. Their rehoming procedures are also ridiculous, and if they weren't so up themselves they would re home twice as many animals. They have no jurisdiction, and no power. Tell them to !!!! off if they come near you.0

Anyone who has a visit from the RSPCA or other problems with them would do well to take a look at the SHG
Can't post links so see the-shg.org
They have a help line 0844 700 66 90 or 0744 99 89 411
General rule is to sign nothing and say nothing and don't let them in or near any animal you care about.0 -
Just on a technical point, the RSPCA Inspectorate predates the modern police by 5 years (seven if you count the two years that its founder paid for two inspectors in Smithfield market from his own pocket from 1822 to 1824 before the founding of the RSPCA).
The wider police rank of inspector was created by Robert Peel of the Met police subsequent to 1829 when the Met was founded, hence the RSPCA were in effect using that term before the police.0 -

Thank you. That has been on my mind since April, glad it's now clarified.0 -
Sorry, clearly you do not understand. St John's and the RNLI are helping people who need their services, they are not overstepping their authority, nor are they taking people to court in, sometimes, highly vexatious, cases.
The RNLI has not ever gone knocking on someone's door demaning entry to see their boat, and then tried to take the boat away and take them to court because they believe it to be in bad condition.
Nor do their members go around calling themselves "Inspector" and dressing like the police. Nor will the RNLI have you shot in the head if they happen across you with a broken leg and all the hospitals are full.
Ah great work being done by the RSPCA water rescue team, yep they're not all bad. However, they're not all good.
No, the RNLI don't go round asking to inspect boats. Boats are inanimate objects you see, and thus incapable of being abused. The fact you think that's an adequate comparison...
The RSPCA aren't helping people. But they are helping your fellow sentient creatures, and thus they're in the same very valuable charity organisation bracket with the likes of the RNLI and the St. John's Ambulance.
Very valuable charities do tend to get special dispensation perhaps because we're ashamed that they are charities at all when clearly such things should not be matters of public whim.0
