Dreaded half marathon tmrw, will just keep repeating my mantra of 'every step taken is a step closer'. Watched some vids on youtube of a woman called Ernestine Shepherd who is the worlds oldest female bodybuilder who runs 10 miles a day and is 77 yrs old, most inspiring was that she didn't start till the age of 56 - makes me feel really motivated to watch her, if she can do it, then I can too!!!
Have a great eve all xxxDebt as at Feb 14: £2272.40DFW Nerd no. 1024June Overhaul #260 -
Good luck siannielaz, I'm sure you'll do great. I've got my first 10k next weekend and until January was an exercise-phobe.
Spendy day here as predicted but it's out of my April budget so no update to the signature. Finally dared to pay money towards my ccard as the quote for building work came in more favourablySo I'm now 25% debt free after 7 months of focused debt busting :j. I couldn't have done it without NSK and all of you, so a huge thank you to you all.
Had another clear out in the garage so more items decluttered
Hole you've all been enjoying the sunshine.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)
New roof and car £8557/£19003 New kitchen £396/£5039 Credit card Paid Student loan Paid0 -
Congrats thrifty and clippy_girl!!! Awesome news all round
Completely failed my SFD target. However, was in Sainsbugs foraging for chocolate and decided that rather than ruin a SFD for nothing I'd just do my weekly shop a few days early.
Today went for a swim, so technically not a SFD as had no exercise budget but I can't begrudge £2 given the very rare occasions I set foot in any kind of sport place. And I went to the pub last night (no pub budget, must rectify this).
Also booked train tickets, taking my awaited expenses up to £200 - none of these things are happening til May so no money back til probably June. I went through quidco so will earn a few pennies eventually.
Looking forward to April's challenge, this has been a very spendy month but hopefully means less so for the next few.New graduate trying to get debt-free.
Make £5/day challenge: August £84.08/155
I owe £5400 (plus £34,000 Student Finance)

NSD today, as predicted.
Thankfully the overdue cheques have arrived, so DS3 will be dispatched on Monday to get them in the bank and hopefully the mid-month standing orders (utilities for 2 houses and council tax here) are covered. Can hopefully make some inroads on the debt when my Wednesday monies come in, but may wait to ensure DS3's grant arrives first (mostly spoken for as I have to pay back the remainder of his overdraft - borrowed to pay towards dpc).
Seeing as I have failed most of the task this month I can say that I have had takeaway tonight and will be having more tomorrow. Tomorrow is Indian and is DS2's Mothering Sunday gift to me (although I may be paying for it on the cc until his cash flow recovers). I asked DS3 if he wanted some ordering and he was pondering Chinese for tonight so that my present off him (only had half so that will do for Monday).
I have a favour to do - mum 'asked' (told me) I could make a large pan of vegetable curry for Good Friday (she will pay for ingredients), can make it at home or at hers - not specified how many for, but likely 8 minimum. Other meal is veg lasagne so probably use less of the veg used in that so heavy on broccoli, will read up on recipes while I am stuck here (used to do it once a week but not to any particular recipe, just any veg that needed to be used up).
Not much progress on de-cluttering. I know what I want to get rid of but at the moment I can't get it further than the hallway and will be cross if I fall over it (especially if it keeps me off the ladder any longer - painting in small bedroom should only take 10-15 minutes, might be able to do 3 x 5 minutes standing on the box - still not keen on little mini steps).
Don't know if I will be in or out for April. Income is still uncertain and some juggling will have to be done. DS2 will have some cash next week but is juggling direct debits (he's also running out of food). Mum gave me some Tessimo vouchers yesterday, £10 off £50 shop. Suggested DS2 and I shop together (he is not working all week as long awaited renovation is finally underway) to make up the £50 (at a suitable time to get the YS items), get the discount (and points for me) pay with cc and get taxi back, dropping him off on the way. If getting around is still difficult it will be easier and possibly cheaper. £4 for all day bus (taxi home £3 ish) and if I did everything bus hopping (still five minute walk either end) tinned tomatoes and cordial for DS3 would be more than one trip with current weight constraints (couldn't manage a can of paint the other day, carrying sheets around by putting them over my shoulder (pegging out one at a time). May not fit at all with the challenge but then shouldn't this be about taking responsibility for our own budget and spending and if this is the best (money, time and personal energy efficient) way to achieve what I need to do.

Well good morning all. (Thrifty how was that tummy-snooze?:p:p:p)..
What a wonderful day it has been reading through everyones posts!! Clippy whats on the agenda now? What are you wanting to do/save for? Remeber to go to the "debt free roll of honor" thread and add your name to the board! By the way what was your debt at it's highest....? #noseyme
Stewby - I would like you on board for April please. No excuses!Don't worry about the few days you are away - remember you make the rules this month.
SianneLaz - good luck today with your running. Remember if you need a rest just walk but what ever you do don't actually stop. Let us know how it went though!!
I need to declare on here what needs to be done tomorrow/today otherwise I won't get anything done. Mummy NSK arrives on Wednesday so I want to get the place looking lovely and clean and need to get some items on ebay... so here goes...- List my vintage box bag on eBay.
- List my expensive Loblan cowboy boots on eBay.
- Road test my push bike to make sure the chain is working.
- Photograph all bike related accoutrements.
- Vaccuum the house.
- Two loads of washing
- Make a pile of ill-fitting clothes that will go---->charity shop.
- Make an honest to goodness ruthless pile of items for the charity shop.
- Sort shoes for charity shop.
- Down-size and destroy last remnants of the "stationary box".
- Sleep a little when I get home...:o
I keep saying this but I mean it this time. Honest!:p:p
