Massive Congrats Mrs Gsr that's amazing
:):)
Total debt - £16,687.86 approx. - Paid so far - £13,156.30 - £350. a month to DMP - DFD 17/01/2019 But I WILL make it sooner!!0 -
Congratulations MrsGSR
Just done a deal with DS3's friend - written a list of things that need doing (stairs, various cupboard doors, bathroom fittings, shed door. DS3 will help /learn to lay laminate floor - not telling him I can already do it, that's how the other two learned and then went to help other people do it. In exchange I will buy the things DS3's friend needs for his dremel on the internet with my cc (still interest free if I can pay off in full this month). Better still (he's currently looking at survival camping stuff) may be able to exchange some of my textbooks which currently aren't selling for *m*zon trade-in and buy the things he wants with that (de-cluttering + barter + work getting done).
Stopped mid-post to do some work. DS3 has painted the top cupboards. I have anti-moulded bottom half of little bedroom (was hidden behind bed before) sitting on my box, got most of the old sealant off the bottom of the windowsill and cleaned as much of the cupboards/ wardrobe as I could (could only be reached by standing on the bed before and only just down to being light enough to stand on the bed now). Also painted wall bits behind/between shelves.
Went downstairs to heat my chilli (boys ordered pizza for lunch - I got 1 slice from the leftovers - and aren't hungry again yet). I am really glad to be back on the bed and wolfed my food (have been eating slowly and carefully, tasting every mouthful). Last night I took a couple of more substantial meals out of the freezer (only been having raw veggies/ soup and odd 1/2 meal since I was sick last week. But really (jumping for joy) mentally at work getting done. Such a change from yesterday.
Not yet cracked on the NSD but may before end of day (really really want chocolate biscuits - only allow myself as a rare treat). Keep finding bits of Christmas leftovers in the upper (still to be sorted freezer shelves) and working out how to present them to the boys (still could do turkey dinner for three, 1 pizza, taken out piri piri chicken wings, 1 box of chicken fingers, few wedges and salad potatoes - honestly they're smaller than baby tomatoes, hope they will roast or do hm wedges not cut up, not even got an emergency can).
When his friend goes home can put DS3 back on hm curry and pasta - he makes this for himself in the middle of the night - his next (final) grant installment is due on the 17th, he says (got it in my accounts book but that is mia). Know I'm okay on the standing orders but don't like not having it to hand - jotting down things like missed rent payments but would be better if everything were written down together.
Keep plodding, hugs to everyone whether you need it or not (everyone deserves a hug now and then). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hi all!
SFD today and £74.21 transferred into saving pots.0 -
Congrats Mrs GSR!!!
I'm annoyed with myself at the moment, seem to be in a spendy mood. I know it's because I booked flights/trains at the end of last week and then went out for coffee so it felt like back when I had money and spent it frivolously (though this time round the travel will be reclaimed on expenses and the coffee was a JL freebie), but it means I bought that dress and then today went in TKMaxx for a wander on my way home from the library and came out with a face cream I could have done without. I enjoy shopping, and not being able to buy things means I try just to 'window shop' but occasionally the purse comes out and its very hard to mentally put it away again. Anyone else find that?New graduate trying to get debt-free.

SD today, called into the village shop for a few bits, foil and such like. I should avoid that place like the plague but every now and then it tempts me.

You must be so chuffed! (we will excuse the premature-ness - :rotfl:)
Hope the hubby realizes how hard you have worked!!!
Thank you lovely
I have so much to thank you for (yes YOU NSK!) you've really changed my outlook towards life and money, before I joined your challenges I would never have considered donating to the food bank or even giving blood or being extremely strict with myself when it comes to budgeting, spending or not, just being conscious really. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
And to everyone on this thread for being so supportive! It's been great to learn from you all and been wonderful to read all your messages! You're all several kinds of AWESOME! Mwah!:kisses:
I told DH this morning that today would be the day I would make that last payment and he was all "lucky you" hopefully he will be inspired now!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Hi All,
Sorry, I have been very bad at posting over the last week or so. I have been reading every post though but just been so tired that I end up falling asleep before I get a chance to post. Note to self...Must try harder
Not doing too bad on the challange though a little over on the grocery budget. In my defense I have stocked up on at least 2 months chicken feed. I also have a reasonable quantity of home made ready meals in the freezer and a decent stock of staples in the cupboards.
The other thing that helped to send me over budget was my purchase of Aldi toilet rolls which have not lasted anywhere near as long as my usual brand - false economy me thinks. I have decided this is one item I will not be down shifting. OH is fully behind my new frugal ways but really wasn't happy with the cheap loo roll. No need to push him too far. :rotfl:
My totals are as follows:
16/20 SFD's - Still on target and really pleased with this
17/21 LTW - Just need to make sure I carry this on for the rest of the month. Again very pleased with this.
£162.38/£150 Grocery - Not too disappointed with this as I can see where the overspend has come from and it should be recouped over the next month or so. Should only need milk between now and the end of the month.
£75.04/£100 Fuel - Hopefully this should last until the end of the month, although I will probably up the budget a little for April as I have a couple of weeks off work and will be having a few days out and visiting family so lots of travel.
Lost track of favours as we have taken elderly neighbour shopping, collected fish and chip supper for them and taken post to post office amongst other things. Really don't mind as they are a lovely couple who just need the company.
Congratulations MRS GSR that's a great achievement :T:beer::T

Today was a spendy day, a planned one. I confess I did splurge £7 on 2 bunches of gorgeous roses to give to the staff at dd's school. But they are worth it!
It was also book fair day, so we took our £1 voucher and got another Rainbow Magic book.
I lined some curtains today with an old duvet and it was one of my less successful ideas! The curtains shrunk in the wash (only a 30° one!) but I omly found out when I'd done all the sewing and was re-hanging them. Oops.
Dh is up in London at some techy thing, so once I escape from getting dd to sleep, then I shall turn off the heating and head for bed.
3 more sleeps til payday, but - more importantly, 6 more sleeps til the April challenge starts. :j:jNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
