Good Day one and all.
I wanted to mention a little something about the "pay towards debts / savings first" rule. If you have a goal in mind, you divide the amount by the months leading to your DFD (debt free day) or your SGD (savings goal day) this way (as easy as it sounds) you are not compelled to keep spending because saving £50 at the end of the month is better than nothing right...?But £100 is better than £50 if you plan to save that amount FIRST the day you get paid.
And it doesn't matter if you are paid weekly. It means that every Friday (or whatever day it is ) money is sent to your savings pot FIRST and whats left is what you live on.
This is how you ADAPT to spending less, question the items that go in your basket (I have been known to fill my basket then slowly put things back) as to whether you REALLY need them and plan ahead with whats in your cupboards instead of grabbing easy meals from the shelves....?My debts were over 14 months @ £16600 = £1185 a month!
Yes it nearly killed me, yes there were months I could only pay £800 but the following months I made even more of an effort to earn OT ( I know this was a gift from on high and not available to everyone) and pay that lump sum against the debt. One epic month of working 23 days straight saw me able to pay off £1700 in one month.
I was not a pretty picture after that but pressed on.
Because I had a goal! MAKE YOUR GOAL SOLID! Make it REAL!- You want a new kitchen?? Start pricing it up!
- You want to paint your entire house? Start pricing it up!
- You want a house deposit? Book an actual appointment with a mortgage advisor and find out what you need!!
It all adds up.
Set your goal.
Visualise it.
Aim for it.

Fmess - this means less than your actual food budget last month.“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. SFD: 0/17
Food: £0/£160
Food bank: £3/£3
Made my £3 foodbank donation this morning online and they get 75p giftaid from that too.
I'm having my last SFD of February today so I'm moving money around.
I have £73.09 left in my food account to last until payday on the 18th of March. I go on holiday in a week until the 17th, so I'm going to leave myself £30 with which to buy milk, bread, veg and to leave Mr Mooo with some food that he'll cook for himself while I'm away! That's £43.09 sent to my savings account.
I have £70 in my current account at the moment. I'm going to leave myself £40 (I have some money in my purse already) and transfer £30 to my savings account. That's to cover travel to and from the airport and any petrol I need until payday :eek:0 -

Got paid today and been a good girl and put monies into various saving pots first. Will try to do £20 less food than last months plan rather than actual spend. On maternity leave from Monday and will hopefully be able to cook cheaper and get more YS food. Also aim for 20 SFDs which gives me two to three spend days a week, plenty I think.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

Okay, here are my targets for March (as I rarely get onto MSE at the weekends)
Food: £0/£200 (aiming for £50 a week instead of the usual £60)
SFD: 0/19 (allowing myself 3 spendy days a week)
Savings: £0/£600
I failed on my savings target in February as I had to dip into them to cover vets fees (again!) and pay my CC which needed paying a few days before payday meaning I had to pay 2 CC bills within one wage, grrr! CC is back to £0 now and is staying that way. I've joined a few of the saving challenges (virtual pot, £10 a week) so this will help.0 -
