I agree, well said Kat
So this is like one of those recurring subscriptions, like AA or magazines...except this one is all good! I get the monthly reminder and I join in!
Yes please from me
Flooding and a broken freezer made February a bit of a disaster for me so I'm looking forward to screwing the nut in March. I'll be back later/tomorrow to declare my intentions!
Enjoy the weekend everyone0 -

Thank you Kat you are very motivational :T:T:T
I have looked at my figures with OH and we have saved another £600.00 this month towards our debt so we are very happy with that :j
So the scores on the doors are...
SFD 0/15
food budget £300
petrol £90.00
plus all the other one's that have been put in the challenge.
I haven't reduced my food budget as i used to spend a lot more and i am too embarrassed to put the figureand i am trying to learn to stick to the budget i have now so hopefully next month i can reduce it then.
We have also decided to go down to one car to save money so this will be happening at the end of march
Anyway enough of my ramblings ... good luck everyone here is to a positive month
Thanks again Kat for keeping us on the straight and narrow :T0 -
I've done all my debt repayments for March already and will be living off what I have budgeted for the month, there is no more money and I won't use the cards so purchases will be well thought out.
I will be aiming for 19 SFD's and 17 exercise sessions for March. I have cut my food budget and although it seems big compared to many others on here it has gone down dramatically and I am finding it easier to chip away at it rather than halve it in one fell swoop.
Decluttering is an ongoing process so that should be no problem.
Fuel is budgeted for and will hopefully be OK. All kids activities have been budgeted for and the money is sitting in an envelope. I am good to go.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I'm in again please!
Will go for 10 NSD.
I have a freezer full of batch cooked lasagnes and fish pies and I've had to go on a gluten and dairy free diet. How annoying is that??!! My mother and my kids will be having a fairly repetitive menu this month lol!"Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." William Morris0 -
Hullo fellow Chelonia
I don't know about you folks but this lil tortoise is raring to go!
Budgets and planning for Mad March are in place and dentist appointments are cancelled for the month to reduce cost and avoid debt. I am planning on getting a Te$co 0% 18 month purchase credit card and stick me choppers on that! This way I wont be having to dip into savings and hopefully I wont 'notice' the £62 per month repayment as much!
So, I got paid yesterday and since February is a short month with her 28 days, next months pay date feels less distant and will be upon me in 26 days! :j
Because this is a short month (between pay days), Im going to use this time as a bit of an experiment and push the boat right out there and see how little I can spend on food purchases. I have researched last year's Living Below the Line challenge and Jack Monroe living on a £1 a day and I am going to give this a good bash.
No tea, coffee or alcohol purchases. I will use up the tea, herbal teas and squash in my cupboard. With regard to breakfast I will make my own bread for toast and finish off my supply of cereals. No cake or chocolates will be bought (although a pack of biscuits might find its way into my cupboard).. Im going to try and live on rice, jacket potatoes, pasta, lentils, chickpeas, beans, frozen vegetables, quorn, fish and eggs for 26 days
My meals may be boring, unimaginative and repetitive but they'll keep me alive
Although I'll have to start properly on Sunday as Im out to lunch tomorrow :rotfl:
Have a lovely evening peeps,

Evening All,
Have taken your post on board Kat and have just transferred my last £50 over towards my debt. The main reason I didn't want to commit to paying my debt first each was because my MOT is due at the end of the month, and I've been worried my old banger won't go through and I wouldn't have the money put away to pay for the repairs. I have a very small, old car which I hardly do any mileage in, but I need it to take DD to the childminders twice a week, so I have decided to get it MOT'd early so then I'll be able to budget better. So have left a message for my mechanic and hopefully he can do it next Thursday as I've nothing in the bank till then. I'll then be free to work out exactly what I can pay off debt and save.
Unfortunately, although I really want to clear my debt first, I need to save up £3k as I'm in a rented flat and have no savings should I need to move again. I still owe my mum £2.5k from when I moved in here, but she refuses to take any money when I try and pay her back as she says it's my inheritance early, but I really don't want to have to borrow off her again. I rent my flat from my nan, who is in care but when she dies, the flat will have to be sold to pay her care bills, so we will have to move on. So, I'm splitting my payments between debt and savings and hopefully will manage both within the year xxDebt as at Feb 14: £2272.40DFW Nerd no. 1024June Overhaul #260
