NSD 3 is in the bag :j. Am trying to get them in early this month!
Dd is having a rough time of it tonight. Before we found out that she was coeliac, she used to find life's little bumps very very hard to cope with. Since being on a gluten-free diet, her ability to cope has hugely imcreased. Tonight feels like a return to the 'good old days.' So, I'm sitting with a dd who's spent much of the last 90 mins crying! Poor mite. At least she's more peaceful and has told me about some things - which I'll need to deal with. Hope she can drop off soon. What with being woken up early+ her collarbone + lots of upsrt, she's drained!
Dh sorted tea out, which gave me a much needed fuel break! I am so lucky to have him and dd.
Grateful today for trustworthy y11s in my lessons, dh picking up dd as I had to work late, balsam tissues to wipe away tears, Asterix on dvd (vital Roman occupational background cultural knowledge for y9 Latin group!) and my mum sending dd some lavender bags.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Hi All,
Still doing well SFD and LTW again today so that's 3/20 SFD and 3/21 LTW :T
Really determined to achieve targets this month and hopefully end the month with some pennies still in the bank. New account does not have OD facility so HAVE to achieve this. Did it last month but paid a large chunk off of debt this month
No plans to spend anything tomorrow or Friday, except a prescription and maybe fuel, but as I stated at the beginning of the month I'm not counting these as spend days if they are in the budget. Both are in the budget
See you all tomorrow

Hey all, spendy day as had to pay dentist, take my mum out for lunch, buy contact lenses solution, FINALLY get my work jackets dry cleaned (only been 2 years…oops) and get petrol. Sigh. But, did t3sco voucher for mum’s lunch so that was half what I predicted and I should get dentist money back on works health scheme, so have to look on the bright side. I also spent several hours browsing in town with my mum and bought nothing! It’s so easy now not to spend on clothes, I just look at the price tags and feel horrified. Got a swim in too, so although SFDs are looking decidedly unhealthy, the exercise is looking good (shame about how much I am eating this week!) Tomorrow is stay in and spring clean all day, so hoping to report a sparkly and amazing home to you all tomorrow and have some de-cluttering done.

Evening all,
I just can't seem to catch up on this thread at the moment, sorry if I have missed anything important.
Today was a small spend day as had to buy a top up of bread and milk although I have lost the receipt so I'll have to wait until it shows up on my online bank statement to adjust my total.
Did a run with one of the dogs when I got home from work, then walked the other dogs before sitting down to do marking, which I have just finished. I am starting to feel like all the days are blurring into one.
I had better go and get off to bed now. Night allLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

hiya... spend-free day today so that's 3 out of 20 so far!!!!

Spent the day with my mum which is always nice. We watched the first part of the oscars (the red carpet walk) and will watch the next bit tomorrow.
OH is currently on a boat heading to brugges so I do not need to worry about feeding him for a few days.
Starve day tomorrow (trying the 5:2 diet) so going to have soup (maybe with some bread) for supper and weetabix for breakfast. I am hoping that it works as I want to try and lose some weight for a wedding in june.

Hope everyone is doing well. Keep plodding on torties.

Spend day today (will update later).
Would just like to say thank you Kat for saying how you wished you could sew and it being a gift.
One of the jobs on my list has been to sew new curtains for the front room and the dining room. I bought the material a while ago,the ones I took down belonged to the old owners (been here 6 years)and were woeful in a number of ways (couple of cobbled together attempts at improving them).
So why have I not done it? I'm frightened of the machine. Okay there's lots of reasons (excuses) why -the dining room became the dumping ground again (things that should be outside / dry, half-dry, wet laundry / left over kitchen bits / tools to be sorted before putting away) The plug was broken (fixed it at beginning of February) but basically the machine is a new one and there are bits that aren't the same as the old one.
So I was thinking about what you said about us having gifts and I thought when I was given my grandma's old converted treadle when I was 17, I didn't know how to use that either (had lessons at school for1 year -mostly hand-sewing - but it was 30 of us round 1 teacher and guess who ended up at the back). So at 17 I taught myself to use the machine (I was running out of clothes as I refused to let my mother make me any more after she made me some trousers in brown jumbo cord - I looked like a grizzly bear from behind: the shocking pink trouser suit was an earlier disaster - I wanted dark green, the shop didn't have any material in my chosen colour and mum and shop-keeper persuaded me the pink was nice - don't think I've worn that colour in the succeeding 45years.
Yes sewing is a gift. Over the years I have kept my family warm 4curtains (lined with spare sheets/ thin curtains / whatever I had) to each window), clothed (trousers with tears patched or made into shorts forthe summer) and warm in bed (had some excellent heavy cotton but it was only 36" wide, so took spare pieces of curtain material - downstairs curtains re-used upstairs, needed shortening - and sewed lengths down each side to make the tuck in bits.
I also embroider and have made numerous cards, samplers, cushions and other gifts for family and friends.
So I have been to the library, looked through a few books for a bit of inspiration and the odd new idea and when I am in a calm frame of mind I will sort the machine. And the stupid curtain rail isn't going to defeat me either (put dozens of the things up, this one will go as well -miss my old drill though).
Just got to finish painting 2nd bedroom and get the dining room workable and put all the things I cooked yesterday away in the freezer. Ok,breathe, calm.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Morning, morning MORNING!
Hope your DD is feeling brighter today Apple Muncher, sounds like she needed to let all that out :grouphug:
I'm declaring a spend day today as at work last night I noticed the hair dye I use has been reduced to half price as the line has been suspended, I've got so many bargains this way as when stacking shelves you notice the hidden ones more
Not much else to report but I'm going to make some bread today, I'll have to find a recipe using cups or attempt to fix the scales that fell out of the cupboard yesterday. It's not looking good thoughSquirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
MORNING ALL!
Just a quickie to say hello as I need to settle and sort my finances today .... More soon..
MortherNerd... my pleasure! My vintage sewing machine is a pedal one, beautiful machines with multiple feet to choose from (and an overlock foot).. my Dad bought for £100 at a second hand store for me so I feel extra guilty for not using it!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.
