Afternoon,
Spend day today, I need to get some eggs, I get them from a free range place up the road £1.90 for a dozen medium eggs, not bad and means more baking.
Had a cleaning day today, thanks to the sunshine I have noticed how grubby everything is so I have been scrubbing doors with cif and the like.
Waited in the doctors surgery for 45 minutes for my booked appointment and ended up having to to leave as I had another appointment which I ended up being late for! Grrrrrrrr!
I'm off to see my grandparents in a bit for tea and cake, am hoping DS behaves himself!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Today ended up buying 2 jumpers . Well had overpaid a cc so used the credit balance on there and a 5 pound voucher, plus 20% off day today with M & Co. = Grand total of 10.13 for 2 scrummy jumpers.
Paid off 177.69 off my cc would have been 200 but I did a bal tf so need not worry till next yr about interest on that cc. By then hopefully I will be near to being debt free.:T

Is this the 30 day shred by Jillian Michaels? I have that DVD! Guess what I'll be doing later, you've motivated me
I've got that one somewhere too! It's great! I might dig it out as well...
I'm pretty impressed at your London budget to be honest, does that include travel to get there?!
Apparently I promised to meet OH in London for an overnight stop/seeing friends/doing things one weekend this month. I can't remember agreeing to this and am struggling with my budgets. I have told him he's paying for accommodation and probably any meals out! Normally I'm a "split everything evenly" kind of gal but just now his disposable income is a LOT higher than mine (we get the same amount in our bank accounts, but he's already had his bed and board taken off, so all his money is basically disposable. He is saving some, and has decided to save more, but he is still left with a reasonable amount for play). Still, it's a bit troubling. Most troubling is that I can't remember the conversation we had about it! :rotfl:
I have also realised today isn't destined to be SFD#2, as the petrol light came on this morning. I have a surprise trip to another site tomorrow too (surprise to me, not to them!) so no chance of eke-ing it out even for a day. Not that that would help matters, the number of spendy days wouldn't change by doing that! Still, since I knew about the trip too late to get a hire car sorted, I will be able to claim own car mileage allowance
. I normally get myself in a muddle if I do this, but the site isn't too far so I'll include tonight's tank full in my normal petrol budget, then the repaid mileage will go straight to the CC when I receive it.

Had a spend day today as I really needed to get lemsip (well the store own brand version).
Done loads of cleaning today and spend an hour on all fours scrubbing the kitchen floor (rough stone tiles).
Watched the panorama programme about food banks during lunch. Mmmmmhh....mixed feelings about it and some of the people in it. I don't agree with that Edwina woman's view but the director of the programme then shot himself in the foot by actually showing someone who goes and gets free food while still smoking. But think it is definitely a good thing to have foodbanks and a shame that so many people in a Western country need them.
Leftover HM Indian incl naan and starters for tea tonight.
Midwife again tomorrow and some decluttering.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Afternoon all, was MIA the last couple of days - been fire fighting on all fronts it feels and still full of stupid cold which specializes in sleep prevention
Dd trip may be off - DBS's, ages, numbers etc - got three options left to try - suspect Baden Powell would be turning in his grave if he knew the lack of organisation! She is gutted - I am cross!
Had house re photo'd this morning ready for relaunch - who knows it might work!
Also had a delivery from a "posh" supermarket. I know I know but £70 of free shopping over the first 4 shops cant be sniffed at and if they dont have what you want they give you something bigger and better at no extra cost to you. I'm trialing it and will try to stay in budget!!
Hope all are well,

Checked into B&B many miles from home! Only spent 60p so far, had my packed lunch on the train, had a drink in costa using my points, bought some toiletries I'd forgotten to pack using boots points, and got snacks and pasties for tea with my clubcard voucher. Quite pleased with that.New graduate trying to get debt-free.

Shyspender - I want to know what your standard staples are? I must admit I haven't bought a ready meal / tinned soup for years although am known to be partial to a can of Tesco EDV spaghetti (disgusting I know) but everything is generally made from scratch.... ( all over that cat-pack stuffing!!! Made me chuckle. Dottie would tear my hands to shreds although I will try tonight and photograph the results for you all)....
lol Kat when I say staples, there isn't really a lot, and I mean when eating out. I basically have three fail safes. The most popular is Cheese and Tomato Pizza, so pick an italian restaurant and I am a happy shy. The second is chinese. I like egg fried rice, I like sweet and sour sauce, I like singapore noodles without the meat and shrimps and I like vegetable spring rolls. So, I am fairly comfortable in a chinese restaurant. The third is indian. I went to uni in Leicester so had to face a few of my eating fears in order to fit in. I can now happily eat a taarka daal and rice. I also love chapatis and naan breads. It's not great but it does give my friends and family a bit more choice when it comes to taking me out.
When it comes to eating at friends, unless it's my adopted family, it tends to be cheese and tomato pizza. My adopted family, very good neighbours, have known me since I was fourteen and they know how [STRIKE]fussy[/STRIKE] selective I can be. They can usually rustle something up for me that I can and will eat.
Was going to claim a SFD today because I had a brand match voucher and a £10 gift card. Went round the supermarket with my calculator and came in under budget. But then I decided I may as well fill up with fuel whilst at the supermarkt because I would have had to tomorrow anyway. I've got a viewing appointment.
I'm meant to be on holiday until next Wednesday but got a crisis call today so have to work Friday due to shortages. It's a good job I like my boss is all I can say and that I know he means it when he says he loves me!Feb NST #4

Hullo folks
Declaring another spend day today. Only one SFD managed so far this month! Bought a £1 bulb from the ££-shop for my new replacement lamp and it is working marvellouslyI was so gutted yesterday as I lost a tenner somewhere trawling the £ shops! I think it was revenge for my dishonesty in not fessing up that the lamp was 4 years old when they gave me a replacement
I just hope the person who found it was in real need of it and might be able to feed themselves for a few days. I also watched the panorama programme on catch up yesterday and was mortified with Edwinas generalised negative comments.. My family received food bank type donations during the 80s miners strike when times were hard for us and we were very grateful of this.
Have been food shopping today and have spent about £25 of my £31 (£1 a day) food budget! All staple bits purchased, which I hope will get me by but I think its going to be a struggle!
I completed a compensation form today for 'mis sold' credit card protection so fingers crossed I will get something in the post soon..
Still in talks with a landlord about what is essentially a semi self contained room that I am interested in but is set at £800 per month! The price one has to pay to get a bit of space with peace and quiet! Kat if your landlord ever needs a good tenant when you go on your travels, send him my way will you?! :rotfl:

Evening all.
Feeling safe to declare another SFD as I am happily wrapped up in my PJ's and can't believe I will need anything desperately enough to tempt me into getting dressed again and don't go in for shopping in my PJ's.
Went on a school trip with DS1 today which I really enjoyed (did find myself looki at all the childrens packed lunches, interested in the different thhings they all had and also noticing howmany of their parents obviously shopin Lidl frm the crisp packets :shhh:)and have been out for a lovely run when DH got in from work so feeling like I have had a really good day, I have even de-cluttered half a pack of biscuits :rotfl:
Won't be a SFD tomorrow as need to get the top up milk I forgot to get yesterdayso may also get the couple of bits I need to finish the home made birthday presents I am giving this month.
