I am having a run of dodgy people at the moment

did a financial assessment for someone today and the conversation went along the lines of

    me: what do you earn?

him: what do i declare or what do I actually earn?

me: what does the tax man have on record that you earn

him: well my accountant always keeps it under the tax payment so around 9k

me: unfortunately we have to go by the figures verified by HMRC so the property is unaffordable based on your income

him: but I earn about 50k and have 80k in savings. I spoke to a bloke who said I have such a big deposit that I don't have to declare my income

me: Some lenders may choose not to check your income however we have to use the figures which are correct otherwise we would be committing fraud which I am not willing to do. The housing association will also check your income and see it is unaffordable so I cannot recommend you for the property.

him: but it isn't fair. I don't want to pay rent any more and I have 80k in the bank. There is no risk to the bank. Why won't they lend me the money?

I give up. What is going on?

Just to go against the grain, i have had a pretty good week. A few nightmare cases have completed, a couple of big cases have completed. I have started a few more applications.

After 5-6 months of being self employed things are going that well that i am now looking at some offices next week.

Woolwich aside it has not been a bad week at all.

To add insult to injury, it will take them about four working days to give you the application number, before you can fax the docs!

I cant believe in 2014 i have to fax documents.

Had to fax 20 pages to BM last week. They are working on 5 days to allocate these to the case and there is no way of knowing if they received them or if they are legible until that time. I hope they don't want another 5 days if I do have to resend them !

I know i might use them in the future but i doubt it. I have not sent a fax in nearly 3 years.
