The fact that it allows the currently displayed page to remain visible for an unlimited amount of time renders the timeout fairly useless anyway. Personally, I don't like inactivity timeouts, but if we have to have them, they should at least wipe out whatever was being displayed in the browser window when they kick in.There are security issues as well. For example, if you leave your PC unattended beyond their inactivity timeout, and then choose a menu option such as "Account Overview" when you return, it will display that (confidential) data for a short while before putting up the login screen.0 -

I placed a deal late on Friday, another on Sunday. Both executed correctly on Monday, deal confirmations 6:00 am Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. H-L would normally confirm by around teatime on Monday.0

So my sell order completed this morning, I received the contract note and the money was showing in my available balance. I tried to place a buy order with some of the proceeds and it instantly failed, but has not released the money back into my available balance. This is not getting off to a good start!
Edit: Ok, it seems logging out and back in has done the trick. There were two clean classes of fund with identical details brought up when I clicked the trade button next to my existing holding and it looks like I picked the wrong one. I'm beginning to understand the previous comments from someone about learning the tricks with the website.0 -
I suspect that once we get used to it, it will be like falling off a log. But, of course, it won't ever be as good as H-L.
Mind you, going back to when H-L first went on line - and I'm old enough to remember that - they were not too good then!0 -
Anyone having trouble buying funds on the website?
Tried to set up regular investment in Vanguard Lifestrat 80% but the search doesn't work. Same when I try to trade immediately.
Happens in both Chrome and IE. Anyone got any tips?0 -
It's not just you. Dealing on funds has been down since at least yesterday. More annoyingly, I had an active buy order which is now showing as completed for £0 and the funds and trading fee have been credited back to my account.simonfitba wrote: »Anyone having trouble buying funds on the website?

I had to check that I hadn't posted that message and then forgotten about it.
I also tried and failed to set up a regular investment in Vanguard LS 80% today, and also tried to trade immediately with the same (lack of) result. I sent them a secure message but looks like it's the same for everybody. Indeed worrying.
Not only that, but I sent off a SIPP contribution form to them and had to use MY OWN STAMP AND ENVELOPE (because I'd already used the ONE I got when I opened my account)
The contrast to HL is striking :P0
