I have two large abstract, original oil paintings on opposite walls in the living room. I finally worked out they were seascapes done in sepia and browns/greens and oranges! on another wall I have 'Photos of mine and OHs family' - DD calls it the Dead peoples wall.
and a mirror above the fireplace. not to look in - more to reflect light into a dark part of the room.
in the dining room are a couple of 'innocous' prints. in the hallway some metal heart shaped candle holders which were a gift from the grandkids. oh and an original water colour which I love - the cottage depicted is my 'dream' cottage.

kitchen - an absolutely hideous clock from the seventies which was a wedding present - I hate it but it keeps perfect time!

Glad to see you've made a start OP! Luckily me and my husband have very similar tastes, so it makes decorating and furnishing a lot easier! Either that, or I sneak it in, and he learns to like it!

I've just remembered something else I have in the kitchen, a framed momento from our honeymoon in Vegas. I got a lovely white frame (looked brand new) from a charity shop, and saved all the ticket stubs from the shows and attractions we went to see, along with receipts and a coaster from Gordon Ramsey's BurgR place. I then arranged them in an 'arty fashion' in the frame and it looks really cool!

oooh thats a really good idea - i've got loads of stubs/receipts/maps etc from our holidays, i might have a bash at that myself!

As soon as I saw the frame, I thought it was the kind of frame that would display things like that perfectly. :)

We went to see Meatloaf, Rock of Ages and Penn & Teller, and visited the Neon Museum and Seigfried & Roys Secret Garden, so we had some cool and interesting stubs, so I was determined to actually get round to doing it this time, as I still have the stubs etc from the first time we went and never got round to doing anything with them, but also because it was our honeymoon too.

It was a sense of achievement too, as in 'look, I've made a piece of art!' :rotfl:

If you got stubs from various holidays, you'll probably have enough to make a biggish piece? Go for it, it'll look cool! :)

i only have 2 things on the walls in my house, a large chunky mirror over the firelace that someone gave me as a house warming pressie and a framed chinese embroidery of a dragon that my mum brought me back from china and had framed locally about 15 years ago.

So myself and DH had a chat about things, and have agreed we want more acual paintings rather than any sort of prints on the walls. Currently watching some lovely oil on canvas painting of Italy on ebay :-) Some lovely countryside ones, and some beautiful one of the northern lakes :-)

Slightly off topic, I decided today that I wanted a tile splashback in the kitchem behind the sink. Its something I've been meaning to do since we put our kitchen in last year. Went to b&q, bought mosaic tiles, and we cut them and fitted them! Im amazed that we actually achived something!!!
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

In the hall I've got a huge mirror, the sitting room and dinning room have a clock each, lol!

I've got framed crossed stitch pictures and an original water colour under the bed!

I used to have pictures of about four generations of the family, I took them down when I decorated years ago and never put them back up, lol.
