I've only just remembered that I now have a letter from Uni saying I'm a student and yet I've done nothing about getting a student account with a big interest free overdraft. So, just rang my bank who have provisionally said I can change to student account and get a £1500 interest free overdraft but the sales team are off today so I've to ring back tomorrow.
I already have a £300 overdraft with them so £1200 will be available to pay off Cap 1.
This will leave roughly £500 to pay on Cap 1. What with my regular payment staying the same, less interest to pay and my £100 regular overpayment, the rest of Cap 1 could be paid off by the end of the summer.

In an effort to cheer myself up I did a calculation of how much I will owe once this month's payments have cleared. It turns out I have already paid off £1,094 Yippee!!! :j
I also reread my first post on this thread and realised I'm in a much better position now than I was then. All I need to do is keep up the good work.
£1094 paid off already - that's fantastic :j I think that rereading your first few posts and seeing how far you've come is a great idea to keep motivated. I struggle with motivation quite a lot and will remember to do this next time. This will leave roughly £500 to pay on Cap 1. I had an application in at work to get some funding to go to a conference in London. It was 2 days, 3 nights and I was getting quite excited about it given I won't be getting away anywhere this year and my friend is going too. My boss was optimistic that I'd get it so it was all looking good.
Just found out that I've been refused.I'm so disappointed.
I wish I had the funds to pay for myself. I wish this debt was gone so I had a chance of putting the cash together myself.
Guess I just need to keep plodding on with the debt repayment. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
I made an appointment at the bank to go and get my account changed to a student account. It's a week on Saturday.
I really hope it's not a separate application for the overdraft facility, especially not if it involves a lot of waiting. I looked up Martin's guide and apparently most students get the full amount. I'm hopeful about this.

Epic fail on the debt reduction front this weekend. After clearing the absolute mess that was the front garden, my neighbour and I went halves on some chuckies and edging and flowers. Credit card took a £38 hit. :-( I'm consoling myself by remembering it could have been so much worse.
I have a plan in place to pay this back at the end of the month and the garden now looks freaking awesome. I can't stop looking at it!If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -

Thanks for that INOD. I think I did, it's stuff that will last all of my time here in this flat, and makes it much more pleasant to come home to.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0
